The Padres released Tucker on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The 31-year-old outfielder was one of the KBO's star hitters in his first two years with Kia, but after a major downturn in performance in 2021, he'll likely have to prove his worth at Triple-A Gwinnett before Atlanta entertains calling him up to the big club.

Tucker re-signed Tuesday with the Korea Baseball Organization's Kia Tigers on a one-year, $1.05 million contract, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.

Tucker returns to the Tigers for a third season after he hit .306 to go with 32 home runs, 113 RBI and 100 runs in 2020. The 30-year-old could revisit a return to North America next winter, but he would most likely have to settle for a minor-league contract even if he's able to turn in another strong season abroad in 2021.
