Clemens (2-5) allowed five runs on nine hits and three walks and struck out three over four innings in a loss Tuesday to Boston.
EDGE Analysis
Clemens hasn't managed to go more than five innings yet in 11 starts this season. He just hasn't shown good enough control to last deep into ballgames, as Tuesday's start marked the fifth time he was walked at least three batters. If he can't lower his 4.9 BB/9, he'll struggle to keep his rotation spot.

Clemens (2-3) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits while striking out six Cubs in Wednesday's loss.
EDGE Analysis
Clemens five runs allowed Wednesday were the most he's given up in an outing this year. That was offset somewhat by a season-best six strikeouts and no walks, but ultimately the 28-year-old wasn't much of a match for the Cubs talented lineup. Since debuting with the Padres on July 4, Clemens is 1-3 with a 6.47 ERA. Needless to say, the righty is best left on the wire under a majority of formats.

Clemens loaded the bases with runners Thursday, allowing eight hits and three walks in five innings, but limited the damage to only three runs in a no-decision against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
This was a near twin of his last start -- both times, he gave up three runs over five innings with a 3:3 K:BB. Unfortunately, that's about the most we can expect from the 28-year-old righty, leaving him useless in the vast majority of fantasy formats.

Clemens (back) has been confirmed as Saturday's starter against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Clemens downplayed the back issue that forced him off the hill last weekend, saying immediately following the game that he would not miss his next scheduled start. He has indeed gained clearance to face Jake Thompson and the Phillies, and will look to earn his first win with San Diego after coming over from Miami on a waiver claim at the end of June.

Clemens says the back tightness that forced him to leave Sunday's start early won't force him to miss his next scheduled start, reports.
EDGE Analysis
Clemens is currently stated to start Saturday against the Phillies. It doesn't sound like the injury he suffered Sunday is major, and unless he tweaks it mid-week, expect him to make that start as scheduled.

Clemens departed from Sunday's game in the fifth inning due to lower-back tightness.
EDGE Analysis
The extent of the injury remains unclear, but that will likely be revealed following some medical tests. Clemens is next scheduled to pitch next Saturday against the Phillies, but a timetable confirming whether or not he will make his next start should come at some point during the week.

Clemens left Sunday's start in the fifth inning due to injury.
EDGE Analysis
The exact cause of his departure remains a bit unclear, but he was replaced by Matt Thorton during Sunday's contest. Making just his second start for the Padres, the 28-year-old was used out of the bullpen prior. If he misses his next potential turn in the rotation, the team may need to call up another pitcher.

Clemens (1-1) gave up three runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts to take the loss in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
He may share a last name with Roger Clemens, but Paul certainly is no relation. Through 18.1 innings in the majors this year, he owns a deplorable 14:12 K:BB and has given up a stunning seven homers, so there's not much room for him on fantasy rosters. One has to imagine he's on the fringe of even being on San Diego's roster.

Clemens will start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals after Tuesday's game was postponed, the San Diego Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin reports.
EDGE Analysis
It had been up in the air as to whether Clemens or Edwin Jackson would join the Padres' rotation, and it sounds like Clemens will get the nod in the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader. He has been pretty poor in the big leagues this season (4.73 ERA in 13.1 innings) and was only slightly better at Triple-A (4.30 ERA in 75.1 innings), so there is not much cause for optimism Wednesday.

Padres GM A.J. Preller named Clemens and Edwin Jackson as possibilities to replace Drew Pomeranz in the rotation.
EDGE Analysis
That first start could come as early as Sunday, when Pomeranz was next scheduled to start for the Padres prior to his trade to the Red Sox. Clemens has spent most of the season in the rotation with Triple-A New Orleans in the Marlins' system before getting claimed by the Padres off waivers, after which they used him in the bullpen.
