Arcia started in left field and went 1-for-2 as he's 1-for-5 this spring. He may be the leading candidate to win the final bench spot as a reserve outfielder, according to Patrick Reusse of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
EDGE Analysis
Arcia is out of minor league options so it's also possible he could be traded if the Twins don't find a role for him. Arcia began last season as Minnesota's starting left fielder, but struggled early and was sent to the minors and had a lost year (hitting .199 with a .629 OPS in Triple-A). Still, he's just 24 years old and still possesses outstanding power (14 home runs last year despite his struggles). He could be a sleeper this spring if he finds a major league role or is traded to another team that will get him regular at-bats.

Arcia was activated from the 15-day DL Wednesday and optioned to Triple-A Rochester, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. He has zero hits in his last four games with Rochester, and the Twins are not yet ready to bring him back into the fold at the big league level. Arcia has massive raw power and has already displayed the ability to actualize it against big league pitching, but there is no denying that almost every other aspect of his game could use some work. Look for him to be recalled by the Twins once he gets hot with the Red Wings, as Eddie Rosario, Shane Robinson and Eduardo Escobar are all getting deployed with semi-regularity in the majors.

General manager Terry Ryan indicated Sunday that Arcia's (hip) rehab has "been a little bit of a slow go," and he may not be ready to return quite yet, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Arcia seemed a possibility to return early this week, but instead it sounds as though he may require a little more time. No updated timetable was given, so it's tough to judge at this point when he's expected to rejoin the club.

Arcia (hip) went 0-for-3 in his first game of a rehab assignment at Triple-A Rochester. He'll play for Triple-A Rochester for at least the rest of the week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. It sounds like Arcia could be activated from the DL early next week if all goes well. It's not clear what outfielder will be sent down when Arcia is activated, but it seems likely Arcia may play more DH when he returns with Kennys Vargas sent to Triple-A.

Arcia (hip) will start his rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Rochester, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Arcia resumed hitting in a cage last Friday and has progressed well enough to start a rehab assignment Sunday. While there is no official timetable for his return, the fact that he'll start playing games at Triple-A Rochester means he could be nearing a return sometime in early June.

Arcia (hip) is getting close to heading out on a rehab assignment, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. It's a fairly uninformative report, as there is no exact timetable or information regarding what Arcia is currently doing. Still, if he is indeed nearing a rehab assignment that means owners should expect him back sometime in early June.

Arcia hit in the cage Friday for the first time since suffering his hip injury, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. As of Tuesday, Arcia still had not resumed swinging, but evidently he received clearance to not only swing but make contact with baseballs. He said he feels good when swinging but is still experiencing some pain when throwing. The Twins have not provided a set timetable for Arcia's return.

Arcia (hip) still has not resumed swinging, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. After being placed on the DL on May 4 with a hip flexor injury, Arcia said he hoped to be game-ready in just 7-to-10 days. That's obviously out the window, with Arcia still not cleared to even take dry swings, and it will be hard to tell where Arcia truly stands until he ramps up his activity. Eddie Rosario and Eduardo Escobar have both seen time in left field in Arcia's absence.

Arcia (hip) is hopeful he'll be game-ready in 7-to-10 days after being placed on the DL on Monday, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports. Arcia is dealing with a right hip flexor strain, and though he'll still be on the DL during the given timetable, it's an encouraging sign that he may need to only miss the minimum 15 days. Eddie Rosario was called up Monday in a corresponding move to fill in the roster spot during Arcia's absence.

Arcia has been placed on the 15-day DL with a right hip flexor strain, Tyler Mason of Fox Sports North reports. The Twins haven't revealed a timetable for Arcia's recovery, but Eddie Rosario was called up from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move Monday. Arcia is hitting .276/.338/.379 this season after posting three multi-hit efforts in his last four games.
