Feliz and the Rangers agreed to a one-year, $4.125 million contract to avoid arbitration, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Feliz figures to open 2015 as the Rangers' closer, but while he posted an 1.99 ERA over 31.2 innings last year, he managed a strikeout rate of just 17.2 percent. His velocity was way down from its 2010 peak, so it would be wise to keep an eye on spring training reports.

Feliz was unavailable out of the bullpen Tuesday, and Neal Cotts logged the save for the Rangers against the Astros. Feliz threw 31 pitches over the previous two days, so the Rangers gave him the night off, but he should available for the next Rangers save that presents itself.

Feliz secured his 10th save of the year after throwing a perfect ninth inning Tuesday against the A's. Feliz has not allowed a run in his last eight appearances, while allowing just six hits in his last 7.1 innings. He now has a solid 2.28 ERA and 0.98 WHIP, but just a mediocre 17:9 K:BB in 27.2 innings this year.

Feliz turned in a perfect ninth inning to record his ninth save in the Rangers' 2-1 win over Atlanta on Friday night. He needed just 10 pitches (seven for strikes) to retire the side, including one via strikeout. He has had his shaky moments since moving into the closer's role but has been able to maintain a respectable 2.36 ERA.

Feliz earned his seventh save of the season Monday while giving up a hit in a 2-0 win over the Mariners. Feliz is 7-for-8 in save opportunities, but the lack of strikeouts and velocity lost after coming back from Tommy John surgery is a little worrisome for a closer.

Feliz nearly blew the save Wednesday against Miami, giving up two solo home runs and walk while striking out two. Feliz came in with the Rangers up three but a one-out home run by Jared Saltalamacchia followed a lead off home run by Marcell Ozuna to bring the Marlins within one. After walking Christian Yelich, Feliz got Donovan Solano swinging to escape with the win.

Feliz struck out both batters he faced Wednesday to earn his fourth save of the season. Following a hiccup in his last appearance Sunday, Feliz settled down and was sitting between 93-95 mph with his fastball. The ninth-inning job in Texas is Feliz's to lose, and he'll need to continue throwing his fastball in the mid-90s in order to push his strikeout rate up from the current 4.5 K/9 mark.

Neftali Feliz picked up save No. 3 with a quick, seven-pitch inning against the Yankees on Wednesday. Even though he topped out at 92 mph tonight, Feliz struck out Mark Teixeira on three pitches and got Carlos Beltran to hit a first-pitch popup. Chase Headley then got ahold of a slider, but first baseman Adam Rosales went up and made a leaping catch, ending the game. Feliz's stuff still isn't where we'd like, but the results have been excellent so far.

Neftali Feliz pitched a perfect ninth on Monday for his second save since being shifted into the closer's role. That's the good news. Less encouraging is that Feliz's fastball was coming in at 91 mph after often touching 93-95 mph in his previous couple of appearances. It didn't hurt him, but hopefully, it's not a sign of things to come.
