Kawasaki will get the start at second base and bat ninth Monday against the Marlins. After coming through with a clutch, ninth-inning double Sunday to spark the Blue Jays' rally, Kawasaki is rewarded with his third start of the season. Hitting just 2-for-8 on the season, Kawasaki is something of an unknown at the plate this season, with far too small a sample size from which to draw conclusions. With Ryan Goins struggling at the plate, a couple of strong appearances from Kawasaki could give him the full-time role until Devon Travis returns.

Kawasaki was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, John Lott of the National Post reports. Kawasaki will replace the injured Steve Tolleson (groin) on the Blue Jays' 25-man roster for the time being. His spot likely remains tentative, however, as his .221/.330/.279 batting line over 27 games in Triple-A doesn't put him in a favorable position to maintain a roster spot upon the return of either Tolleson or Devon Travis.

Kawasaki was optioned to minor-league camp Tuesday, John Lott of the National Post reports. Kawasaki has found a comfortable role with the Blue Jays the past two seasons, going back and forth between Triple-A Buffalo and the big-league club. The Jays once again have shaky depth in the middle infield and an unproven starter at second base, so it wouldn't be surprising to see a repeat in 2015.

Kawasaki and the Blue Jays have agreed to a minor league deal with a spring training invite, John Lott of the National Post reports. Kawasaki has carved out his niche as decent-average hitter who only hits singles. The utility infielder will likely start 2015 at Triple-A and wait for a Blue Jays infielder to go down with an injury.

Kawasaki was outrighted off the 40-man roster by the Blue Jays to Triple-A Buffalo, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports. Kawasaki was a regular starter for the Blue Jays after the All-Star break, and had a .258 average on the year in 82 games. He could elect for free agency along with Dan Johnson and George Kottaras, who were also outrighted by Toronto.

Kawasaki is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports. Kawasaki has been holding down regular duty at either second or third base mostly since the All-Star break, but aside from a .271 average on the season, he's been mostly a non-entity in the fantasy game. He could share duties at either position with Steve Tolleson, Ryan Goins and Danny Valencia the rest of the way, with the Blue Jays likely content to ride the hot bats.

Munenori Kawasaki was forced to leave Friday's game against the Rays in the seventh inning due to tightness in his right hamstring. Kawasaki is considered day-to-day and should return to the Blue Jays lineup at some point over the weekend. He was 1-for-4 with an RBI before departing.
