Minor (shoulder) threw a live bullpen session Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minor's session was considered an important step in his road to recovery. He's still due back with the Reds in mid-to-late April.

Reds manager David Bell said that Minor (shoulder) is tentatively slated to return in mid-to-late April, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Once Minor returns, he'll likely be limited to 3-to-4 innings in his first outing or two. This probably gives the back end of the Reds rotation (Vladimir Gutierrez, Nick Lodolo, Reiver Sanmartin and Hunter Greene) at least two and maybe three starts to sort out who remains in the rotation once Minor and Luis Castillo come back.

Minor (shoulder) threw a live bullpen session Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minor will begin the season on the injured list, though he will travel north with the team. That combined with the fact that he has been able to continue throwing suggest that his absence isn't likely to extend far into the campaign -- barring a setback. Minor's short-term absence will likely give Nick Lodolo the chance to start the sixth game of the regular season, which falls on April 13 against the Guardians.

Manager David Bell confirmed Minor (shoulder) will begin the regular season on the injured list, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bell previously intimated the veteran left-hander could be delayed to begin the season due to some shoulder soreness, so it's not a major surprise Minor will end up on the shelf. There's no specific available for his return, though Bell also said he expects Minor to be ready "sometime in April." Luis Castillo (shoulder) will also open on the IL, which provides prospects Hunter Green and Nick Lodolo an improved chance of being in the Opening Day rotation.

Manager David Bell said Thursday he anticipates Minor (shoulder) being "slightly delayed" to begin the regular season, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minor has dealt with shoulder soreness early in spring training and is feeling better with two weeks remaining until Opening Day, but Bell said the left-hander is unlikely to have enough time to build up prior to the first week of the season. If the 34-year-old ultimately requires a stint on the IL to begin the year, Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo and Riley O'Brien should be in the mix to fill in as starters.

Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that Minor (shoulder) is on track to be ready for Opening Day, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Minor is apparently going through a throwing program while he works his way back from the shoulder issue that dates back to late last season, he has yet to make his Cactus League debut and isn't scheduled to start in any of the Reds' next five spring games, per Goldsmith. Minor could still build up his pitch count by appearing in a simulated game within the next few days, so he sounds like he still has a shot at being part of the Reds' season-opening rotation.

The Reds acquired Minor (shoulder) and cash from the Royals on Wednesday in exchange for left-hander Amir Garrett.
EDGE Analysis
Minor spent the final few weeks of the 2021 campaign on the injured list due to left shoulder impingement syndrome, and it's not yet clear whether he has any limitations to begin spring training. The southpaw returned to the Royals in 2021 and posted a 5.05 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 158.2 innings across 28 appearances. Assuming he's healthy to begin the regular season, the 34-year-old should begin 2022 as a member of the Reds' starting rotation.

The Royals placed Minor on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with left shoulder impingement syndrome, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minor's move to the IL explains why he was scratched prior to his scheduled start Wednesday against the Athletics for a previously unknown reason. Manager Mike Matheny hasn't commented on the severity of Minor's shoulder issue, but the veteran southpaw seems likely to be shut down for the season with just two and a half weeks left to go. Kansas City has been running out a six-man rotation lately, so Matheny may just scale back to five starters rather than immediately appointing a replacement for Minor.

Minor isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minor was initially listed as the probable starter for Wednesday's matchup, but the team will push up Carlos Hernandez while Daniel Lynch takes the mound Wednesday. The Royals haven't given any indication that the change in rotation plans is due to an injury, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Minor start in the upcoming series against the Mariners.

Minor didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 9-8 loss to the Orioles, allowing five hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw was sharp over 90 pitches (60 strikes) and appeared headed for his ninth win of the year, and first since July 26, until the Royals' bullpen melted down and coughed up nine runs in the eighth inning. Minor at least came away with a quality start, his ninth of the season, and since the beginning of August he has a solid 4.05 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 28:4 K:BB through 33.1 innings.
