Angels optioned LHP Michael Roth to Triple-A Salt Lake. Roth has allowed 14 runs in 14 innings over two stints with the Angels this season. The 23-year-old southpaw should get another look in the majors later this summer.

Roth got through the lineup OK the first time, but he retired just one of the six Rangers he faced in the fourth. Texas ended up scoring nine times in the inning. Roth might be returned to the minors now because of the Angels' need for fresh arms.
