Roth has elected free agency. The left-hander went 11-7 with a 2.62 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 22 starts at Double-A Arkansas in 2014, but it wasn't enough to save his spot on the 40-man roster, as the Angels designated him for assignment last week. He hasn't had success at the major league level to this point (7.79 ERA), but Roth is still just 24 and shouldn't have any trouble latching on with another organization.

The Angels designated Roth for assignment Thursday, Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times reports. Roth pitched well with Double-A Texas last year, but he owns a 7.79 ERA in 22 major league appearances, so the Angels decided to take him off the 40-man roster.

Roth was recalled from Double-A Arkansas on Saturday, Eric Kay of the Angels' official site reports. In two lengthy relief appearances this season, Roth has allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four in 6.2 innings. Because he's a part of the Double-A rotation, his next potential outing could again occur in long relief.
