Fulmer (elbow) signed a two-year, minor-league contract with the Red Sox on Feb. 2.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer is expected to miss 2024 following UCL revision surgery, so he'll rehab with the Red Sox this year before joining their bullpen in 2025, assuming all goes well. The veteran right-hander held a 4.42 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 65:28 K:BB across 57 innings in 2023 with the Cubs before getting injured.

Fulmer underwent UCL revision surgery Thursday on his right elbow and is expected to miss the 2024 season, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This procedure comes with brutal timing for the 30-year-old reliever, who is set to become a free agent in November. He inked a one-year, $4 million contract with the Cubs prior to the 2023 season and went on to post a 4.42 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 65:28 K:BB across 57 innings before finishing the year on the injured list because of a forearm strain.

The Cubs transferred Fulmer (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer had already been ruled out for the season after landing on the 15-day IL on Sept. 16 with a right forearm strain. His move to the 60-day IL was merely for procedural purposes, as the transaction opened up a spot on the 40-man roster for reliever Shane Greene. Assuming he doesn't require an offseason procedure to address the forearm strain, Fulmer should be fully cleared for spring training, but he may not be attending camp as a member of the Cubs organization. The 30-year-old right-hander is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason after accruing a 4.42 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 65:28 K:BB to go with three wins, 11 holds and two saves over 57 innings in 2023.

Fulmer was placed on the injured list Saturday with a right forearm strain.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer suffered an apparent setback, as he returned from the same issue on Monday. This will almost certainly end his regular season, though it's possible he could return for the postseason if he can get healthy.

Fulmer earned a save against the Rockies on Monday, issuing one walk and striking out two batters over two-thirds of an inning.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer was activated from the injured list Monday and was immediately thrown into the fire, taking the mound with one out in the ninth inning and Chicago holding a one-run lead. He put the first two batters he faced on base via a walk and a hit-by-pitch but rebounded in impressive fashion by fanning Harold Castro and Brenton Doyle to escape the jam. The veteran reliever's save came on the same day Cubs closer Adbert Alzolay landed on the injured list with a forearm strain, though that doesn't necessarily suggest Fulmer will be the team's top ninth-inning option moving forward. Julian Merryweather has pitched very well this season and picked up a save Sunday, but he was likely unavailable Monday after pitching each of the previous three days.

Fulmer (forearm) was activated from the injured list Monday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer did not encounter any issues after landing on the injured list in late August, and he will be back in Chicago's bullpen moving forward. Closer Adbert Alzolay (forearm) was placed on the injured list in the corresponding move, so roles are set to change at the back end of the bullpen. Fulmer could be in the mix for saves, but he's likely behind a fellow reliever or two.

Fulmer (forearm) threw a successful bullpen session Wednesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was his first time throwing off a mound since he landed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 26 due to a mild right forearm strain. There is not an exact timetable for Fulmer's return to the Cubs' bullpen, but he would seem to be getting close. He may be allowed to skip a minor-league rehab assignment if his side work continues to go smoothly.

Fulmer (forearm) is expected to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer has been playing catch without issue over the last few days and is ready to take the next step in his recovery from the mild right forearm strain that sent him to the injured list Aug. 26. He could potentially skip a minor-league rehab assignment and return to the Cubs' bullpen this weekend if everything continues to go smoothly.

Fulmer (forearm) will play catch Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer is less than a week removed from landing on the injured list with a right forearm strain, but he's made a swift recovery and is ready to do some throwing. The reliever should have a chance to return when first eligible on Sept. 10 if he can avoid setbacks.

Fulmer (forearm) is expected to resume throwing later this week, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fulmer just landed on the 15-day injured list this past Saturday with a right forearm strain, but an examination conducted Monday showed that he is already improving. The 30-year-old setup man might be ready for activation when first eligible Sept. 10.
