Dominguez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels. Dominguez is 0-for-7 over the last two games, and 2-for-14 over the past four, and will sit Saturday in favor of Gregorio Petit. Petit will man third and bat ninth for the Astros in his place.

Dominguez last tallied a hit on Aug. 20, a span of 13 at-bats, which has pushed his slash line to a miserable .223/.262/.344 on the season. He'll hand over the hot corner to Gregorio Petit, who is batting ninth.

Dominguez is not in the lineup Saturday, the Houston Chronicle's Jose de Jesus Ortiz reports. Gregorio Petit will get a rare start at the hot corner, as Dominguez is given a standard day off. He is one of several Astros (other than Chris Carter and Jose Altuve) who have not lived up to the starting role they've been given this season, and his long-term future with the team is probably still up in the air. His .226/.266/.349 slash line makes him unusable in standard leagues that count batting average or OBP.

Dominguez is out of the lineup Saturday at Boston, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. The Astros are holding Dominguez out for the first time since May 23, which allows Gregorio Petit to cover the hot corner. Dominguez has continued to scuffle along at the plate in August, slashing .214/.237/.304 with one homer, five RBI, and three runs in 56 at-bats.

Dominguez went 2-for-4 with his 14th home run of the season in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox. Dominguez's two-run shot came in the fourth inning off Allen Webster. It was his first home run since July 28.

Dominguez was buried in a slump heading into the afternoon game and snapped out of it in a big way, singling in the second inning and smacking a three-run double with the bases loaded in the third. He's still batting just .246/.299/.395 on the season, but the 24-year-old third baseman can boast nine home runs and 30 RBI.
