Brewers optioned INF Mat Gamel to Triple-A Nashville. Gamel managed just three hits in 26 at-bats in his time with the Brew Crew. He'll return to a .957 OPS and 18 home runs at Nashville.

Mat Gamel will serve as the designated hitter Tuesday night against the Yankees. He was called up from the minors Monday for that very reason. While he'll mostly DH this week in New York and Minnesota, it's also possible he could play first so that Prince Fielder can DH a game or two. Gamel's value will likely be fleeting, but he's worth a look in NL-only leagues.

Brewers recalled INF Mat Gamel from Triple-A Nashville. As expected. Gamel was batting .321/.380/.577 with 18 home runs and 58 RBI over his first 76 games with the Sounds, including a .347 batting average over 101 at-bats this month. The 25-year-old has flopped in a small sample in the major leagues, but he'll get a chance to DH over the next six games as the Brewers play in American League ballparks. He's worth a short-term add in NL-only leagues.

The Brewers are once again considering calling Mat Gamel up. They talked about calling him up before their interleague series in Boston but decided against it since they came back home after just three games with the DH. But, with six straight games in AL parks in the upcoming week, it's much likelier he'll be summoned now, Gamel was batting .319 with 16 home runs and 52 RBI going into Saturday's game for Triple-A Nashville.
