Teixeira is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
It's an odd day for Teixeira to be out of the lineup with righty Nick Martinez on the hill for the Rangers, but it seems like just a rest day, as he had started all four games since returning from the DL on Saturday. Rob Refsnyder will start at first base and hit ninth Wednesday.

Teixeira went 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored in Monday's loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira has now homered twice in his last eight at-bats after hitting just three in his first 170 of the season. The veteran first baseman was having a rough go of it before a knee injury sidelined him for most of June. Teixeira hit .295 after the All-Star break a season ago, which could forecast a better second half for the first baseman.

Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a solo shot, his fourth home run of the season and first since April 13, in Sunday's 7-1 loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
It was one of only two hits the Yankees managed on the day. Injuries have contributed to a very rough first half for Teixeira, but the 36-year-old still has plenty of time to make an impact this season if he can get going.

Teixeira (knee) was officially activated from the DL on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
As manager Joe Girardi announced Friday, Teixeira will rejoin the Yankees and return to the lineup for the first time in more than three weeks. Teixeira will start at his usual first base position, while batting sixth in the order against the Twins' Ervin Santana.

Manager Joe Girardi said after Friday's game that Teixeira (knee) will return to the lineup Saturday, Wallace Matthews of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Girardi did not say who would be removed from the roster to pave the way for Teixeira's return, but it appears Teixeira will play Saturday for the first time since June 3. Teixeira will need to be activated from the disabled list before he is able to play, but the Yankees figure to make that move at some point prior to first pitch Saturday afternoon.

Teixeira (knee) is on track to be activated from the 15-day DL on Saturday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that the Yankees' tentative plan for Teixeira is to have him head out on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from Tuesday through Thursday. He'll then rest Friday, and if he experiences no lingering discomfort with his knee, Teixeira will come off the DL on Saturday. The Yankees have been using a platoon of Ike Davis and Rob Refsnyder at first base of late, but Teixeira should take back full-time duties at the position once he returns.

Teixeira (knee) took batting practice Thursday, the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira reported that everything felt good in his knee and that he's planning to test out his running over the weekend. The first baseman is currently slated to start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Trenton, and if all goes well, he could rejoin the Yankees as early as June 24.

Teixeira (knee) plans to play at Double-A Trenton on June 21 and 22 before returning to the Yankees on the 24th, Jared Diamond of The Wall Street Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira, who's missed 10 straight games with his latest injury, doesn't seem to think he'll need much of a rehab assignment before returning to his spot at first base. During his absence, Rob Refsnyder will likely continue to play at first. Refsnyder is 10-for-38 this season with six RBI and five runs.

Teixeira (knee) was able to hit off a tee Tuesday, the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira was able to participate in light hitting drills on the field prior to Tuesday's game, and the next steps in his recovery are to partake in a full batting practice session and field grounders. The first baseman is optimistic he can rehab his way back without undergoing surgery, but he'll likely need to go through a minor league rehab assignment to prove he can hold up in game action before returning.

Teixeira is hoping to play through the pain and get through this season without knee surgery, Peter Botte of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teixeira has had a similar surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee in 2007, and he knows that having it now would require a 4-to-6 month recovery period. The team doctor that examined him, Dr. Ahmad, said that surgery in the offseason "..is 'probably' inevitable..", however the first baseman determined that he would be able to get through the rest of the season, and even be ready for a rehab assignment within the next three weeks.
