Reynolds supplied a pinch-hit three-run home run Tuesday in the Nationals' 25-4 win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Reynolds made his fourth consecutive start at third base in the Nationals' previous game Sunday against Miami, but he was held out of the lineup Tuesday after Anthony Rendon (personal) was activated from the family medical leave list. The move to the bench didn't hinder Reynolds' productivity, as he took infielder-turned-pitcher Jose Reyes deep for his 11th home run of the season. With a .909 OPS, Reynolds has been exceptionally productive in a limited sample of plate appearances, but he won't have a clear path to consistent playing time while Rendon, Ryan Zimmerman and Matt Adams are all healthy.

Reynolds will start at third base and bat seventh Sunday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Anthony Rendon missed the previous three games while on the paternity list and will be sidelined again Sunday after being transferred to the family medical leave list, paving the way for Reynolds to draw his fourth straight start at the hot corner. It's uncertain when Rendon will be ready to rejoin the club, so Reynolds could make for a quality short-term roster option in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues while he's seeing regular at-bats. Reynolds has supplied an .887 OPS across 150 plate appearances on the season.

Reynolds is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Those hoping that Reynolds' huge 5-for-5, 10-RBI performance July 7 against the Marlins would translate to an uptick in playing time have been sorely disappointed, as he's started just two of the Nationals' last eight games. Matt Adams remains Washington's primary first baseman, though he'll cede starts at the position to Reynolds when lefties are on the hill for the opposition.

Reynolds went 5-for-5 with two home runs, a double, three runs scored and 10 RBI in Saturday's win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
This was after Reynolds hit a walkoff, pinch-hit homer Friday. He lifted his slash line from .257/.330/.505 to .292/.358/.594 with Saturday's performance. While that's a great line, Reynolds has been playing primarily on the short side of a platoon at first base and his at-bats in that role could take a hit after the break with Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) inching closer to a return.

Wed 7/4/18 10:03 AM

Reynolds will start at first base and bat fifth Wednesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Due in part to Daniel Murphy getting increasingly comfortable with manning the keystone in addition to the Nationals facing left-handed starting pitchers in back-to-back days, Reynolds will be included in the lineup at first base for the fifth time in six games. Over the preceding four starts, Reynolds has rewarded the Nationals with six hits -- including a home run -- and four walks, but those solid showings aren't likely enough to lock into steady playing time. With Matt Adams (finger) returning from the disabled list Wednesday, Reynolds will likely settle into the short side of a platoon at first base for the time being. Playing time will be harder to come by for both players when Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) comes off the DL, perhaps at some point shortly before the All-Star break.

Reynolds went 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Friday's rout of the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The homer was his seventh of the year, but his first in June. With Daniel Murphy shifted over to first base until he's comfortable again defensively at the keystone, Reynolds has seen his playing time crater, and he's started only two of the past seven games. Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) and Matt Adams (finger) are also inching closer to returns from the disabled list, so Reynolds' window for fantasy value appears ready to draw to a close within the next couple of weeks -- and potentially his tenure with the Nats entirely.

Reynolds went 3-for-5 with two solo home runs and a third run scored in Monday's win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
It's his second two-homer performance in five games since being added to the Nats' roster to fill in for Ryan Zimmerman (back), giving Reynolds an absurd .444/.500/1.167 slash line through his first 20 at-bats this season. Zimmerman wasn't expected to miss too much action, but the club will probably give him all the recovery time he needs with Reynolds tearing the cover off the ball in his absence. How the playing time at first base shakes out when Zimmerman returns -- Matt Adams has cooled down but is also in the mix -- could be one of the first big tests of new manager Dave Martinez's tenure.

Reynolds went 3-for-4 with two home runs, two runs and three RBI in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
He was successful at the plate last year with the Rockies, hitting .267/.352/.487 with 30 home runs, and was promoted from Triple-A prior to this game. He could continue to see fairly steady playing time while Ryan Zimmerman (back) is on the disabled list, although he will occasionally make way for Matt Adams (who started in left field Sunday) at first base when the Nationals want to prioritize outfield defense.

Reynolds will start at first base and bat fifth Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being added to the Nationals' active roster a day earlier, Reynolds didn't have to wait long for his first appearance, which will come at Chase Field, the place he called home from 2007 to 2009. Though the 34-year-old Reynolds is coming off a productive campaign with the Rockies in which he slashed .267/.352/.487 while swatting 30 home runs, it's uncertain if he'll be in store for much more than a part-time role with Washington. Matt Adams will pick up the start in left field Sunday, but he's likely to see most of his time at first base while Ryan Zimmerman (back) is on the disabled list, blocking Reynolds' path to consistent at-bats.

Reynolds joined the Nationals prior to Saturday's game, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reynolds was called up due to Ryan Zimmerman's placement on the 10-day DL with a back injury. With Zimmerman on the shelf, Reynolds will back up Matt Adams at first base. Over 10 games with Triple-A Syracuse after joining the organization in mid-April, Reynolds has hit .231/.286/.333 with one home run and four RBI.
