Mariano Rivera gave up a run Thursday in his 2013 debut, but he did pick up a save after entering a 4-1 game against the Red Sox. Rivera got Will Middlebrooks to ground out and then struck out Jackie Bradley Jr. on three pitches to end the game. Of course, no one ever gets hits off Rivera the first time they face him. Still, he did look rather human tonight while walking Dustin Pedroia and giving up a double to Jonny Gomes.

Mariano Rivera has been diagnosed with migraine headaches. Mo has been having headaches for a couple weeks now, so the Yankees decided to get him checked out Friday. "When you have issues you want to make sure everything is OK,'' Rivera said of the CAT-scan and blood test. "They said it seems like migraine headaches.'' Rivera has pitched great this spring and it doesn't appear that the headaches will affect his availability for Opening Day. It's a situation to monitor.

Mariano Rivera officially announced Saturday that he will retire after the 2013 season. Rivera likely would have retired at the end of last year had he not torn his ACL, but this confirms earlier reports that this will be his final season. The all-time saves leader, Rivera should remain among the better fantasy closers in 2013. He's scheduled to make his Grapefruit League debut later Saturday and expects to be ready for Opening Day.

Mariano Rivera (knee) will make his Grapefruit league debut Saturday. There had been some speculation that Mo would appear on Wednesday, but it will be a few days later. Rivera will obviously have plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day, as he'll only need a few appearances. The all-time saves leader should be among the better fantasy closers in 2013.

Mariano Rivera (knee) threw live batting practice Friday. It's the first time he's faced hitters since blowing out his knee last May. "Basically just wanted to see the hitters, that's it," Rivera said. "I don't do nothing different than the bullpen, but seeing the hitters, seeing how they swing at the ball. . The first BP that I threw in almost a year. I'm really happy with the results. It will get better. The longer I keep throwing, it will get better." Mo is expected to be ready to roll on Opening Day.
