Angels Designate Luis Valbuena For Assignment rotoballer.com Sun 8/5/18 9:33 AM

The Los Angeles Angels have designated infielder Luis Valbuena for assignment. Valbuena was in the midst of an ill-fated two-year, $15 million dollar contract. He was slashing an abysmal .199/.253/.335 with nine home runs and three steals. At the moment, it appears that utility infielder Kaleb Cowart and Jefry Marte will split time at third until Taylor [...]

David Fletcher Starting over Luis Valbuena Against Right-Hander rotoballer.com Mon 7/23/18 2:33 PM

Los Angeles Angels infielder David Fletcher is starting at third base and hitting ninth on Monday against right-hander Lucas Giolito. Typically, Fletcher will start against left-handers with Luis Valbuena taking the majority of playing time against right-handers. No word if Fletcher has won the starting third base job outright, or if this is simply a day off for Valbuena. If Fletcher is going to get every day at-bats, he is worth a look in deeper formats. He is currently hitting .273 with one[...]

AL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 15 rotoballer.com Mon 7/9/18 3:00 AM

Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can. The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]

Both can be expected back soon.

However, he will head to the bench against right-hander Matt Koch on Tuesday. There's no word if Valbuena is battling an injury or just getting a day off. Mike Trout will serve as the designated hitter, with Chris Young in center field. Albert Pujols is playing first base and rookie infielder David F[...]

With Jefry Marte, Zack Cozart and Shohei Ohtani all on the DL, a regular spot at first base has opened up. Luis Valbuena is the regular third baseman, with Albert Pujols taking regular DH duties. Fernandez was tearing it up in Triple-A, and is 2-for-6 so far in the big leagues. He isn't worth a look except in very deep leagues.
