Laynce Nix (calf) is still at least a week away from beginning a minor league rehab assignment. Nix has been sidelined since May 10 due to a left calf strain and suffered a setback last month. There's no clear timetable for his return, but it's possible he could rejoin the Phillies by the end of the month.

"There is still a little tightness, but hopefully he'll continue to make progress and we can get him out on a rehab assignment in the next week to 10 days or so."

Nix was just beginning to appear in extended spring training games and seemed destined for a late-June return. But the guess is he'll now be out past the All-Star break.

Layne Nix homered and singled in three at-bats in Thursday's victory over the Braves. Despite not being an everyday starter, Nix has continued to hit the ball well, going 10-for-21 (.476) since April 23. His OPS now stands at a remarkable 1.077.

Laynce Nix went 3-for-3 and hit his first homer Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. Nix had his big game against a pitcher in Josh Collmenter who has looked as bad as any NL starter since the spring began. Still, it counts in the stats. He was making his first start in six days, and he might have earned himself another one with the performance.
