Gausman (2-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing just three hits over seven scoreless innings against the Yankees. He struck out 11.
EDGE Analysis
It was quite a bounce-back outing from Gausman, stymying a powerful Yankees lineup after he allowed seven earned runs in his last start in Houston. He matched a season high with 11 strikeouts while recording his second scoreless outing through five starts to begin the year. Gausman lowered his ERA to 2.84 with a 1.01 WHIP and a league-leading 41 strikeouts. He's lined up to make his next start at home against the Mariners.

Gausman (1-2) took the loss Monday, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in a 9-2 loss against Houston. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman served up two-run doubles to Jose Abreu and Corey Julks before Jake Meyers crushed a three-run homer to give Houston a 7-0 lead in the first inning. The veteran right-hander was able to get out of the inning, but he dug Toronto too big of a hole, as Houston cruised to victory behind Cristian Javier. After allowing just three runs and posting a 25:3 K:BB over his first three outings, Gausman struggled mightily Monday, but he'll look to get back on track during his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for the Blue Jays' upcoming three-game road set versus the Yankees.

Gausman did not factor in the decision on Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits over eight innings in the extra-inning victory over the Tigers. He struck out 11 and did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Despite giving up two home runs, the 32-year-old had an impressive outing, striking out 11 batters -- all via the splitter. Gausman's performance kept the Blue Jays in the game as their offense struggled until they mounted a comeback in the ninth inning. The right-hander avoided the loss when an Alejandro Kirk sacrifice fly tied the game in the ninth, setting up a walkoff single by George Springer in the 10th. Gausman has been dominant to start the season, posting a 1.35 ERA and 25:3 K:BB over 20 innings.

Gausman (1-1) allowed four hits and two walks while striking out seven across six shutout innings to earn the win Thursday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman allowed only one hit through six innings and was ultimately pulled after allowing the first two batters of the seventh inning to reach base. He took advantage of pitcher-friendly Kauffman Field by piling up seven flyball outs without allowing an extra-base knock. Gausman has not surrendered an earned run across his first two outings -- spanning 12 innings -- while also maintaining an impressive 14:3 K:BB in that span.

Gausman (0-1) took the loss Saturday as the Blue Jays fell 4-1 to the Cardinals, giving up three runs (all unearned) on eight hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
A Matt Chapman throwing error prevented Gausman from escaping the third inning and led to three St. Louis runs, but otherwise the veteran right-hander kept the Cards in check. He fired 64 of 90 pitches for strikes. Gausman has topped 200 strikeouts in each of the last two seasons, and barring injury, he should be in that range again. His next start currently lines up to come next week in Kansas City.

Gausman is not dealing with an injury and will pitch in a minor-league game Sunday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman was originally scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Tigers, but it looks like the Blue Jays simply altered their plans. He could have pitched in a Grapefruit League game against the Yankees on Sunday, but he'll face minor-leaguers instead to give the Yankees' big-league bats fewer reps against him.

Gausman was scratched from his scheduled spring start Saturday against the Tigers for undisclosed reasons, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sem Robberse will start the game in Gausman's place. It's possible this was nothing more than a change of plans from the Blue Jays, as there have yet to be reports that Gausman is dealing with any sort of injury, but it's at minimum something to monitor.

Gausman allowed two hits and two walks over 3.1 scoreless innings while striking out seven in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty fired 43 of 65 pitches for strikes as he continues to gear up ahead of Opening Day. Gausman has yet to give up an earned run this spring while posting a 12:3 K:BB through 8.2 innings, and the tweaks he made this offseason to his mechanics to avoid running afoul of MLB's balk crackdown don't seem to have impacted his performance at all.

Gausman gave up two hits and struck out two over 3.2 scoreless innings in Thursday's split-squad game against Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty was efficient, tossing 32 of 48 pitches for strikes against a lineup of bench players and minor leaguers. Gausman hasn't seemed to have much trouble adjusting his mechanics in response to MLB's new balk crackdown, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings over two spring starts with a 5:1 K:BB as he builds up ahead of Opening Day.

Gausman gave up an unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out three over 1.2 innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Two pitchers were charged with balks during the game but neither one was Gausman, so the veteran righty's first start of the spring should be considered a rousing success. His windup was one of the ones singled out by MLB when they announced a new focus on cracking down on balks this offseason, so Gausman has made it a priority to come to a complete stop on the rubber before delivering the ball. If he's able to make the necessary adjustments, there's little reason to think the 32-year-old won't produce another strong campaign after posting a 3.07 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 and dazzling 1.9 BB/9 in 64 starts between the Giants and Jays over the last two seasons.
