Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters that Profar is still awaiting for a visa, and he's hopeful he can join camp early next week, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Black mentioned that Profar has a meeting with the consulate in Curacao, which could help speed the process along. Signed in the middle of March to a one-year deal, once Profar joins the Rockies he's expected to be an everyday option for the club. There is a chance that he'll need to spend an extra few days in camp before joining the major-league roster, however.

Profar agreed Sunday to a one-year, $7.75 million contract with the Rockies, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Heyman reports that Profar can earn another million in incentives if he reaches 400 plate appearances. Considered to be the top bat remaining on the market, the 30-year-old hit .243/.331/.391 with San Diego in 2022 over 152 games while adding 15 homers and five stolen bases. He's played all over the field and could be an option for Colorado in the outfield as well as at second base. Profar is a flawed option who is unlikely to hit for average, but the friendly confines of Coors Field does give him some potential fantasy relevance in 2023.

Colorado is showing interest in signing Profar, the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Profar remains a free agent and is playing for the Netherlands' World Baseball Classic team. He's 2-for-7 with a home run through two games. The versatile 30-year-old batted .243/.331/.391 with 15 home runs and five stolen bases over 152 regular-season games for the Padres in 2022. Colorado could be interested after injuries to Sean Bouchard and Randal Grichuk, A landing spot in Colorado would boost Profar's fantasy value significantly.

EDGE Analysis
Profar remains a free agent here at the end of February and can maybe use the WBC as a launching point toward securing a deal with a major-league team. The versatile 30-year-old batted .243/.331/.391 with 15 home runs and five stolen bases over 152 regular-season games for the Padres in 2022.

Profar declined his $8.33 million player option for 2023 and became a free agent Monday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
After exercising his $7.33 million player option a year ago, Profar evidently feels he can do better on the open market than the $1 million raise he would have been in line for in 2023. The 29-year-old served mostly as a utility option in 2021, but he settled in as the Friars' everyday left fielder in 2022 and slashed .243/.331/.391 with 15 home runs, 82 runs, 58 RBI and five stolen bases across 658 plate appearances. Still just 29 years old, the former elite prospect shouldn't have much trouble settling into a near-everyday role in 2023, whether it's with the Padres or another club.

He accounted for two of the Padres' three extra-base hits in the contest and notched his first multi-hit performance in over two weeks.
