Juan Francisco homered and walked three times in four trips to the plate against the Mariners on Wednesday. Francisco hit a solo homer off of Blake Beavan in the fourth inning, his only hit of the afternoon and this third homer of the spring. Francisco has hit very well in the Cactus League. He should be the left-handed complement to Mark Reynolds at first base throughout the year.

Juan Francisco homered twice and drove in three runs against the Athletics on Thursday. That is certainly a way to introduce yourself in spring training. Both of the first baseman's homers were solo shots. Francisco tagged Tommy Milone in the second inning and Jim Johnson in the fourth. His third RBI came in the fifth when he reached on Eric Sogard's fielding error.

Brewers avoided arbitration with INF Juan Francisco by agreeing to a one-year, $1.35 million contract. Francisco was arbitration-eligible for the first time this offseason after qualifying as a Super Two player. The free-swinger slugged 18 homers in 2013 but also batted just .227/.296/.422 overall. He'll compete for playing time at first base this season.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel believes that Juan Francisco could be the leading candidate to open the 2014 season as the Brewers starting first baseman. The team remains open to discussing a return with Corey Hart, but doesn't plan on seeking a major upgrade via free agency. The 26-year-old Francisco is still overly prone to the strikeout (138 in 348 at-bats in 2013), but does possess massive power potential. He currently sports a 1.070 OPS in the Dominican Winter League, and is certainly someone for those in mixed leagues to keep an eye on if he secures the job.

Juan Francisco is making changes to his swing, including ditching his leg kick. Francisco is also working on minimizing his movements in the batter's box. He used his new stance during a pinch-hitting appearance Sunday, which resulted in a hard groundout. "That was a really good at-bat," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "He saw the ball well and he ended up smoking a ball for an out, but he hit it well. I think if he does that, I'm excited about that stance and what I think can happen with that stance."

Juan Francisco is not in the Brewers starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds. Yuniesky Betancourt is drawing the start at first base while Jeff Bianchi covers for the injured Aramis Ramirez at the hot corner. It's the second straight day off for Francisco, who is hitting .230/.308/.459 with 13 homers and 31 RBI in 77 games since being acquired by the Brewers in early June.

Juan Francisco went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI against the Rangers on Wednesday. Francisco was the entire Brewers offense on Wednesday, accounting for all four of the team's runs with his two homers. He followed a solo shot in the second inning with a three-run blast in the fourth. The slugger now has 17 home runs to go with a .252/.320/.478 batting line this season.

Juan Francisco singled and launched a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Cubs. Francisco's blast in the fifth put the Brew Crew on the board before they were able to come back in the ninth. Though his defense at first base has been horrendous, Francisco has now gone deep nine times in 45 games for Milwaukee.

Juan Francisco launched his 12th home run of the season, helping to power the Brewers to a 2-0 victory over the Marlins on Friday. Francisco finished the night 1-for-4. The only offense the Brewers could generate in the game came on a pair of solo homers from Francisco and Carlos Gomez. He's been an extremely welcomed addition since coming to Milwaukee, hitting .265 with seven homers and 16 RBI in his first 34 games.

Juan Francisco went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, and two runs scored in Friday's loss to the Mets. Francisco is now hitting .394 (13-for-33) with five home runs and nine RBI over his last nine games. With his free-swinging ways, we don't expect the batting average to last, but nobody has ever questioned his power. The 26-year-old should get the bulk of the playing time at first base now that Corey Hart (knee) is out for the season, so those in deeper leagues should consider him for a corner infielder spot.
