Tomlin will start Thursday's game against the Royals, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin has previously made eight starts for the Tribe this season, but his most recent appearance came in relief Sunday against the Red Sox, when he tossed two scoreless frames to capture the win. Since he'll be pitching on three days' rest Thursday, Tomlin isn't expected to work long in what will more than likely be his final appearance of the regular season. Adam Plutko, who started Sunday but isn't listed among the Tribe's probable pitchers for their four-game series in Kansas City, could be available to eat innings behind Tomlin.

Tomlin (2-5) was the pitcher of record in Sunday's 4-3 walk-off victory over the White Sox in 11 innings after tossing two scoreless frames in relief. He yielded one hit and one walk and struck out two in the 31-pitch appearance.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin had started the series opener Thursday and covered four innings, so his availability out of the bullpen on just two days' rest came as a surprise. Manager Terry Francona's decision to roll with Tomlin in relief likely removes the right-hander from consideration for a start Wednesday against the White Sox, with Shane Bieber now seemingly the top option for the nod that day. Tomlin could rejoin the rotation during the four-game series in Kansas City next weekend with the Indians perhaps inclined not to use their top three starters during those games with the playoffs on the horizon.

Tomlin is scheduled to start Thursday's series finale against the White Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin picked up his first start with the big club since mid-May over the weekend against the Tigers, tossing four innings and giving up two runs on five hits and two walks. It wasn't clear if it was merely a spot start for Tomlin or if he would stick in the rotation going forward, but the fact that he's in line to take the hill again Wednesday suggests he's replaced Adam Plutko as the Tribe's fifth starter. Though Tomlin may pick up an additional start in the final week of the season, he'll likely head to the bullpen once the postseason begins and Cleveland shortens its rotation to four men.

Tomlin allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over four innings Friday against Detroit. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin last just four frames, allowing a run in the first and fourth innings. He was removed after throwing 55 of 88 pitches for strikes. Following Friday's performance, he's accrued a 6.49 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 37 strikeouts across 59.2 innings this season. He figures to be used out of the bullpen moving forward.

Tomlin will start Friday against the Tigers, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team is pushing Corey Kluber back to line him up for the postseason and Tomlin, who recently returned from a hamstring injury, will get the call for the spot start. Tomlin has made just six starts so far this season, posting a dismal 8.10 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 30 innings as a starter. The results have been better in relief, but not much better (4.91 ERA, 1.40 WHIP).

Tomlin (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin will return to the big-league bullpen after missing six weeks of action due to a right hamstring strain. He was able to make four rehab starts in the minors, including a pair of games with Triple-A Columbus in the past 10 days. Across 23 appearances (six starts) for Cleveland this year, he's logged a 6.98 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 30 strikeouts in 49 innings.

Tomlin (hamstring) made his second rehab start at Double-A Akron on Wednesday, tossing three scoreless innings and striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin faced one batter over the minimum and tossed 29 of his 38 pitches for strikes in the outing. After Tomlin struggled mightily in the rotation early this season before moving to a long-relief role, he probably won't be asked to build up to a starter's workload during the rehab assignment. Even so, Tomlin could stick in the minors until Sept. 1, when the Indians would be able to bring him off the disabled list without having to drop a player from the active roster.

Tomlin will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin has been on the shelf since July 10 after suffering a right hamstring strain. He threw a simulated game Tuesday without issue, and he's expected to toss two innings his first minor-league start with the Clippers. Tomlin is expected to remain on his rehab stint for close to the full 30 days, meaning he could surface in the big leagues in September when rosters expand.

Tomlin (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Tuesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
If Tomlin's right hamstring responds well to the activity, he could be cleared to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment as soon as Friday. Though Tomlin has been on the shelf for less than a month, the Indians will likely keep him on the rehab assignment for close to the full 30 days since he hasn't offered much assistance as either a starter or reliever this season. Look for him to return to Cleveland when rosters expand in September, at which point the right-hander will presumably work as a mop-up man out of the bullpen.

Tomlin (hamstring) has resumed throwing off a mound and could soon be ready for a minor-league rehab assignment, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin, who has been sidelined since July 9 with a right hamstring strain, has been working through some adjustments to his delivery during his bullpen sessions with the hope of finding more success upon rejoining the Indians. The 33-year-old has been pummeled to the tune of a 6.98 ERA and 21 home runs allowed over 49 innings this season and hasn't seen his results improve since moving from the rotation to a long-relief role.
