Reyes officially announced his retirement via his personal Twitter account.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year-old shortstop finishes his MLB career with a .283/.334/.427 slash line, 145 home runs, 517 steals and 43.9 career fWAR. He played 12 of his 16 seasons as a member of the New York Mets.

Reyes is preparing to continue his career during the 2019 season, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As a 35-year-old utility man who slashed a deplorable .189/.260/.320 across 251 plate appearances last season, Reyes would do well to secure a minor-league deal this winter. Even that might be ambitious, given Reyes' significant off-field baggage -- he was suspended 52 games in 2016 after an arrest on domestic-violence charges. It wouldn't be surprising if none of the 30 teams were interested in taking a flier on the four-time All-Star.

Reyes is starting at shortstop but is only expected to receive one at-bat Sunday against the Marlins, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran infielder played 13 innings Saturday night, so between that and the fact that Sunday could be his final game with the Mets, the team will give him a send-off after his first at-bat. No official word has come forth as to who will replace him at shortstop, though Amed Rosario seems like a good bet to replace him.

Reyes will start at third base and bat seventh Sunday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
With Todd Frazier resting in the series finale, Reyes will enter the lineup at the hot corner. It will be Reyes' third start in four games, all of which have come at different positions. Despite the recent uptick in opportunities, it doesn't appear that Reyes has a path to consistent at-bats now that Frazier is healthy, as Jeff McNeil seems to have emerged as the Mets' primary option at second base after Asdrubal Cabrera was traded to the Phillies last week.

Reyes went 2-for-3 with two solo homers in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes slugged solo homers in the fifth and eighth innings, but the Mets would fall in the series finale. The 35-year-old struggled to a .180 average through 19 games in July, so he'll look to turn things around as the calendar flips.

Reyes is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Even after the trade of Asdrubal Cabrera, Reyes hasn't quite yet locked down an everyday role. It appears the last-place Mets are content to work out some of their younger players, whether it be Jeff McNeil or the recently-recalled Luis Guillorme, who will man the hot corner Sunday.

Reyes is not in Saturday's starting lineup against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes will take a seat as Trevor Williams is slated to toe the rubber for the Pirates. Jeff McNeil is penciled into the lineup at second base and he'll bat sixth.

Reyes was added to the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, according to Tim Healey of Newsday.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes was slated to come off the bench Friday night, but he will move into the starting lineup in place of Asdrubal Cabrera, who was traded to the Phillies. Reyes will man the hot corner and hit eighth in the Mets' batting order against Pirates starter Ivan Nova.

Reyes is not in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Jeff McNeil will get his first big-league start, hitting seventh and manning the hot corner. With the Mets looking to next year, McNeil could be given a decent amount of playing time over the rest of the season if he impresses early on, which would cut into Reyes' at-bats. However, if Asdrubal Cabrera gets moved at the deadline, there would presumably be enough playing time to go around for everyone.

Reyes will play third base and hit eighth Wednesday against the Padres, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets' decision to move Yoenis Cespedes (heels) back to the 10-day disabled list following a one-game cameo after the All-Star break will afford Jose Bautista a full-time role in the outfield, thereby opening up third base for Reyes. The 32-year-old will start Wednesday for the fourth time in five games, but he's still not performing well enough to warrant a roster spot outside of NL-only settings. Reyes is slashing an abysmal .179/.256/.241 on the season, with his 41 wRC+ representing the fourth-worst mark among all players in baseball with at least 150 plate appearances.
