Zimmermann (4-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Royals, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
After a three-start stretch in which he allowed just two earned runs over 20 innings, Zimmermann has taken a step back in his last two outings. In 11.2 innings, the veteran righty has allowed eight earned runs on 18 hits, which looks more like the pitcher who posted a 6.08 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 2017. Zimmermann still has a solid 3.97 ERA this year, but his poor track record in Detroit the past two seasons should temper expectations somewhat moving forward. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is scheduled for next Tuesday against the Reds.

Zimmermann (neck) is lined up to start against Kansas City on Tuesday after receiving another nerve-blocking injection over the All-Star break, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann previously received an injection in Dallas last weekend. Barring any further setback, expect to see him on the mound in Kansas City for his 13th start of the season.

Zimmermann (neck), who left the Tigers over the weekend to receive a nerve-blocking injection in Dallas, isn't expected to miss a start due to the issue, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann apparently required the injection as part of a preventative maintenance program rather than as the result of a setback during his most recent outing July 11 against the Rays. The All-Star break should afford Zimmermann ample recovery time in advance of his next scheduled start, which has yet to be announced. The Tigers will open the second half with Matt Boyd, Mike Fiers and Michael Fulmer as their three starters for next weekend's series with the Red Sox, so Zimmermann's first turn would presumably fall either July 23 or July 24 in Kansas City.

Zimmermann is expected to receive a nerve-blocking injection in Dallas on Friday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear as to when Zimmermann's latest issue started bothering him, although he didn't look himself after getting roughed up for four runs on 11 hits during Wednesday's start. More news on his status should surface in the near future.

Zimmermann (4-1) picked up his first loss of the season Wednesday against the Rays. He gave up four runs in 6.2 innings, allowing 11 hits (including a pair of homers), walking one and striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann was able to work his way out of a series of jams in the first six innings, allowing just one run on a Kevin Kiermaier solo homer. He had the lead in the seventh inning but ended up blowing it on a three-run shot by C.J. Cron. Despite the mediocre start, the veteran righty has largely been effective when healthy, posting a solid 3.71 ERA through 12 starts. His next start will come sometime after the All-Star break.

Zimmermann (4-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Rays, allowing four earned runs on 11 hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
This was a step backwards for Zimmermann, as he set a new season high for hits allowed in a game. The veteran came into the day having allowed just two earned runs over his previous three starts (20 innings), and he still has a solid 3.71 ERA, so overall his first half has to be considered a success. Zimmermann is scheduled to start the Tigers' fifth game after the All-Star break. The 32-year-old might also use the time off to get a nerve block injection in his back, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Zimmermann will get an extended break around the All-Star break, during which he could get a nerve block injection in his back, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He is still listed as the confirmed starter Wednesday against the Rays, but the Tigers could then shut him down for almost two weeks before needing a fifth starter on July 24 in Kansas City. Zimmermann is not expected to need a disabled list stint.

Zimmermann (3-0) recorded the win Sunday against the Blue Jays by tossing seven inning of one-run ball. He allowed five hits and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann matched a season high with the seven innings and tallied his first win since May 5. Since returning from the disabled list on June 16, the veteran right-hander has allowed just four earned runs in three starts (17 innings), bringing his season ERA down to 3.91. He'll look to keep things rolling in his next start, which is scheduled for Friday against the Rangers.

Zimmermann tossed five scoreless innings Monday against the A's, giving up four hits and one walk while striking out three and not factoring into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
He returned from a shoulder issue on June 16, but hadn't pitched since then. It was good to see him find success in this outing, as he gave up three runs in five innings in his first start off the disabled list. Despite his success, he was pulled after 79 pitches (49 strikes), so the Tigers likely intended to watch his workload closely in this game. His next start should come Sunday in Toronto.

Zimmermann did not factor on the decision during Saturday's 7-5 win over the White Sox, allowing four runs on four hits over five innings. He walked none and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann actually had a perfect game through the first four innings, but faltered in the fifth inning by allowing the four runs on four hits. The veteran right-hander threw only 74 pitches in his return from the disabled list, and lines up for an unappealing matchup at Cleveland next Saturday.
