Lyles (0-10) took the loss Wednesday as the Royals fell 6-1 to the Marlins, coughing up five runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander gave the Kansas City bullpen a bit of a breather, but that's about the only silver lining to take away from this performance. Lyles tossed 56 of 85 pitches for strikes while becoming the first pitcher in the league to reach 10 losses -- no one else has more than seven -- and he also leads the majors with 18 homers allowed. He'll carry a 6.84 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 55:25 K:BB through 73.2 innings into his next start, likely to come at home early next week against the Reds.

Lyles allowed one run on two hits and a walk over five innings in Friday's loss to the Rockies. He struck out eight and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Lyles produced what was easily his best start of the year but got no run support. The 32-year-old forced a season-high 14 whiffs on 74 pitches but remains at 0-9 on the year. He's still sporting an unsightly 6.89 ERA through 66.2 frames on the year. Lyles is currently lined up to start in Miami next week.

Lyles (0-9) took the loss Friday as the Royals were toppled 12-10 by the Nationals, giving up five runs on six hits and three walks over five-plus innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander was nursing a 2-1 lead through five innings, but both offenses erupted in the second half of the game, with Lyles getting chased by the three-run shot off the bat of Corey Dickerson. Lyles has served up multiple homers in seven of his 11 starts this season, getting tagged for 16 long balls over 61.2 innings in total to fuel his ghastly 7.30 ERA. He'll try to stop the bleeding in his next outing, likely to come next week at home against the Rockies.

Lyles (0-8) took the loss Saturday, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks over five innings during a 5-1 loss to the White Sox. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Lyles has allowed four or more earned runs in eight of his last nine starts and holds a 7.15 ERA across his first 56.2 innings with the Royals. The veteran's 1.34 WHIP is consistent with previous years and suggests he could turn a corner soon, but he's never been considered an ace. Despite the struggles, Lyles is locked into Kansas City's rotation for the foreseeable future after signing a two-year, $17 million deal this offseason.

Lyles (0-7) took another loss Sunday, allowing seven runs on four hits and three walks over 2.1 innings against the White Sox. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Sunday was easily Lyles' worst outing of the season. He let up one run through the first two frames on a Christian Yelich homer and then completely fell apart in the third. He faced seven batters in the inning, allowing three walks, two singles and a double, which amounted to another four runs for the Brewers before he was pulled. Two additional runs were charged to him after Jose Cuas allowed both inherited runners to score off a three-run blast by Brice Turang. Lyles' velocity noticeably dropped down to 88.8 MPH after he had been averaging 90.7 with his fastball for the year. He has allowed at least one homer in seven of his nine starts this year and now owns a 7.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 38:17 K:BB over 51.2 innings. He's lined up for a tentative start against the White Sox next weekend.

Lyles (0-6) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits over nine innings in a 4-2 loss against the White Sox. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Lyles needed 112 pitches to go the distance Tuesday. He had six clean innings, but the White Sox cashed in with a couple of homers and two-hit innings to put up four runs. The 32-year-old has a 6.20 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 49.1 innings on the season.

Lyles gave up eight runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out three batters over five innings against Baltimore on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
About the only thing that went right for Lyles on Thursday was that opposing starter Grayson Rodriguez struggled just as badly, allowing Lyles to escape a loss. The right-hander gave up all eight of his runs over the first three innings, with half of the tallies coming on a pair of two-run homers. Lyles has surrendered 13 earned runs across nine innings over his past two starts, pushing his season ERA to 6.69.

Lyles (0-5) allowed seven runs on seven hits and four walks over four innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Things got off to a poor start when Max Kepler took Lyles deep in the first inning. Most of the damage came in the fourth inning, headlined by Jorge Polanco's three-run shot. Lyles has allowed at least four runs in four of his six starts this year and is now sporting an ugly 6.11 ERA through 35.1 frames. He's expected to face the Orioles at home next week.

Lyles (0-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk over six innings against the Angels. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Lyles has gotten off to a rough start to the 2023 season, having allowed three or more runs in four of his five starts while allowing seven home runs. Three of those long balls came in the sixth inning of Sunday's game, when Taylor Ward, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani hit consecutive solo homers to give the Angles a 4-2 lead. However, Lyles had found a rhythm prior to the nightmare sixth inning, having retired 14 of his previous 15 batters before getting shelled. Lyles is slated for another start Friday against Minnesota, a team he held to two runs in 5.1 innings in his first start of the campaign.

Lyles (0-3) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over eight innings during a 4-0 loss to the Rangers. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Lyles served up a one-out, three-run homer to Josh Jung in the first, but all three runs were unearned due to back-to-back errors to start the game. The lone earned run on Lyles' ledger came in the third via a solo shot from Marcus Semien. Despite the rocky start, Lyles was able to settle down and got through a season-high eight frames against a good Rangers' offense. Through four outings (25.1 innings), Lyles sports a 4.26 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP with a 18:7 K:BB.
