Papelbon earned his 32nd save of the season Monday against the Nationals as he pitched one inning and allowed one run and two hits to go along with two strikeouts. Papelbon has been racking up saves in a hurry of late as he has five in his last six appearances. Although the Phillies have struggled this season, they have had enough close games to leave Papelbon with plenty of save opportunities.

Papelbon picked up his 30th save of the season, the 8th time in the last nine seasons he's had at least 30, by closing out the Mariners Wednesday pitching a scoreless ninth and striking out two. Papelbon has never been the most popular player, but he's put together some very impressive numbers over his career and now has 315 saves to go with a 2.34 career ERA and 1.02 career WHIP.

Papelbon earned his 29th save of the season Monday against the Mariners as he allowed one hit and recorded one strikeout in one scoreless inning. Papelbon has recorded at least 30 saves in a season every year of his career except for last year when he finished with 29. He continues to be a reliable closer for the Phillies and should remain that way for the rest of the season.

Papelbon retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning of Thursday's 6-5 win over Houston to notch his 27th save of the season. Philadelphia rallied to score five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, setting up Papelbon for the save. The veteran closer has been solid this season, although there wasn't much interest for him at the July trade deadline. There's a chance he could still be dealt to another team, but that seems unlikely.

Papelbon has cleared revocable waivers, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports. Papelbon is now eligible to be traded to another team. There was not a lot of interest in him at the July trade deadline, so the chances of a deal happening seem slim. The Phillies may need to wait until the offseason to move him when there are more teams looking to fill closing roles.

Papelbon was placed on revocable waivers by the Phillies on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.

Jonathan Papelbon gave up a pair of hits but hung in there to convert his 25th save of the season in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks. Papelbon yielded a leadoff single to David Peralta and a one-out single to Miguel Montero, but he got a strikeout of Paul Goldschmidt and induced a double-play ball from Martin Prado to end it. The fiery reliever boasts a 1.83 ERA and has converted 25 of 28 save chances this season. It's possible he could change teams before the trade deadline.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the trade market for Jonathan Papelbon "seems light, if existent." Papelbon has had a fine season, posting a 1.91 ERA while saving 24 games in 28 chances, but Heyman says "there seemingly isn't strong interest," especially with the Angels and Tigers having already acquired relievers. The Phillies are prepared to eat a portion of the $18 million guaranteed to Papelbon through the end of next season, but he also has a vesting option for 2016, something that Heyman notes "can be sticky for acquiring teams."

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal report that the Tigers are "keeping tabs on all relievers, including Jonathan Papelbon." The two also say that the Tigers are interested in Antonio Bastardo. Detroit appears dead set on adding at least one bullpen piece at the deadline, as they've also been connected to Brad Ziegler, Joaquin Benoit and Joakim Soria. The Tigers have publicly backed Joe Nathan as closer, but it's possible he could be demoted depending on who they're able to acquire.

A source tells Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles that he expects the Dodgers to pursue Jonathan Papelbon. The Dodgers already have a competent closer in Kenley Jansen, but setup man Brian Wilson has been terrible and the Dodgers have the financial wherewithal to take on a portion of Papelbon's remaining salary. Papelbon recently told reporters he would welcome a deal to a contender, so getting him to waive his no-trade clause to head west shouldn't be a problem.
