GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said trade talks for Papelbon are still alive, CSN Philadelphia reports. "We're still having discussion and not just with one club," Amaro said. Amaro would not name the teams the Phillies have talked to, but Milwaukee is considered the most viable trade partner. Toronto has also expressed interest. The sticking point in talks has been Papelbon's $13 million option for 2016, which he wants guaranteed in order to waive his no trade clause.

The Phillies have recently had trade talks with the Brewers involving Papelbon, CSN Philadelphia reports. Milwaukee is one of the teams Papelbon can block a trade to, but he indicated during last season that he would be willing to waive his no trade clause to move to a contender. He also reportedly wants his $13 million option for 2016 picked up in order to waive his no trade clause. Ken Giles would take over as the Phillies' closer if Papelbon gets dealt before the season begins.

Papelbon logged his 39th save with a scoreless ninth inning against Atlanta on Friday night. He allowed one hit and struck out one. Papelbon (39 saves, 2.04 ERA) just returned from a seven game suspension earlier in the week, and as expected, immediately stepped back into the closer's role. He has now converted both save chances since his reinstatement.

Papelbon has been reinstated from his suspension and will resume his role as the Phillies' closer, Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Papelbon served a seven-game ban for making a lewd gesture toward fans after blowing a save last Sunday. Despite the negative attention the situation drew, Papelbon will return to his role as the primary closer. In 64.1 innings (64 appearances) this season, Papelbon holds a 2.10 ERA with 37 saves and four blown saves.

Papelbon has been suspended seven games and fined for his actions after blowing a save Sunday, CSN Philadelphia reports. Papelbon made a lewd gesture toward fans while walking back to the dugout and was subsequently ejected from the game. He will not appeal the suspension, which begins Monday night. Papelbon will be eligible to return Tuesday, Sept. 23 when the Phillies take on the Marlins.

Papelbon blew a save opportunity Sunday against Miami, allowing four hits and four earned runs in the ninth inning. Papelbon has been excellent for the Phillies this season, but it all went wrong for the closer on Sunday. His ERA jumped from 1.56 all the way up to 2.10 following the blown save, which was only his fourth of the season.

Papelbon allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out one, but came away with his 34th save in the Phillies' win over Washington on Friday night. Papelbon (4 saves, 1.67 ERA) scuffled and let one run in before closing out the Nationals after this mates provided him with a two-run lead after trailing 5-0 and 7-2 earlier in the game. Despite this less-than-stellar outing, Papelbon has been a reliable arm in the end game and one of the few bright spots for the Phillies this season.

Papelbon completed the Phillies' combined no-hitter Monday afternoon, retiring all three Braves to face him in the ninth. Cole Hamels started the game and fired six hitless innings before Jake Diekman, Ken Giles and Papelbon finished the job. Philadelphia's closer has been dominant this season, allowing just one run in his last 17 outings.
