Diaz was traded to the Yankees on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz is toiling through a rough season in Triple-A, batting just .182/.348/.239 through 37 games, but the Yankees will bring him back after he spent all of 2016 with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 32-year-old likely serves as organizational depth, as he hasn't made big league appearance since 2015.

Diaz was promoted from Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz owns an underwhelming .225/.350/.292 slash line over eight minor-league seasons. The 32-year-old infielder has logged just 55 major-league at-bats since being drafted in 2006 by Toronto, and his window of opportunity to reappear in MLB has all but officially closed. It would take an overwhelming series of injuries and suspensions for Diaz to get back under the bright lights.

Diaz agreed to a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old spent all of last season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and hit .207/.315/.249 in 371 plate appearances there. He has struggled across parts of three major league seasons, and will likely spend 2017 in Triple-A again as organizational depth.

Diaz was reassigned to minor league camp Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
His opportunities were limited this spring, and Diaz will likely spend most of the season as depth at Triple-A again this year barring injury to several middle infielders ahead of him on the organizational depth chart. Diaz has hit .232/.346/.302 in parts of seven seasons at the Triple-A level.

Diaz received an invitation to spring training Friday, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The light-hitting shortstop spent most of 2015 with the Triple-A affiliate of the Blue Jays, but did see some time with the major league club as well. That being said, he'll likely head back to the minors after spring training is over.

Diaz inked a minor league contract with the Yankees on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz doesn't have much major league experience under his belt at age 30, but has seen a taste in each of the past three campaigns. He'll once again serve as organizational depth in 2016, but this time it will come with the Yankees rather than the Blue Jays.

Diaz was added to the major league roster ahead of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz has spent four games in the majors this season, going 0-for-5 in those games. In 118 games for Triple-A Buffalo, he's hitting for a .223/.328/.284 slash line. Donn Roach was designated for assignment to make room for Diaz on the 40-man roster.

Diaz went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base for Triple-A Buffalo in Saturday's 11-6 victory over Louisville. After spending some time in the big leagues this season, Diaz's numbers at the plate in Triple-A were woeful. However, he's picked them up significantly, going 10-for-28 (.357) over his past 10 games and has raised his average from .176 to .230 since May 18. With a rash of injuries, he could find himself back in Toronto, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect too much upon his return as lifetime he's hitting .128 in the big leagues.

Diaz cleared outright waivers Friday, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports. The Blue Jays needed room on the 40-man roster for 22-year-old infielder Ronald Torreyes, who was acquired from the Astros on Friday. Diaz could still prove useful as a backup infielder at some point this season, but he offers very little upside in the batter's box.

Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Sportsnet.ca's Ben Nicholson-SMith reports. The Jays are opting for an extra bat over infield depth, calling up first baseman/outfielder Chris Colabello to replace Diaz on the 25-man roster. The move is somewhat unusual, as Toronto now has just two true middle infielders (Devon Travis and Ryan Goins) on the roster. It wouldn't be surprising to see Diaz rejoin the big-league club soon, but the Jays are apparently comfortable using Danny Valencia at second base in the event of an emergency.
