Giavotella was cut loose by the White Sox on Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giavotella joined the White Sox's organization in mid-May and spent a majority of his time at the Triple-A level, hitting .225/.225/.250 with one extra-base hit in 11 games for Charlotte. He will look to latch on with another club in the coming weeks, though it's highly unlikely the 30-year-old will make an impact in the big leagues in 2018.

Giavotella signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Saturday and will report to Double-A Birmingham.
EDGE Analysis
Giavotella spent spring training with the Marlins but failed to earn a roster spent and was released from Triple-A New Orleans in early May. The 30-year-old struggled with a .214/.389/.250 slash line in 28 at-bats for New Orleans, and should serve as organizational infield depth with his new organization.

Giavotella revealed Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he was released by the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
After failing to win a reserve infield spot with the Marlins while attending spring training as a non-roster invitee, Giavotella was assigned to Triple-A New Orleans to begin the season. He appeared in 10 games in the Pacific Coast League, hitting .214 across 28 at-bats before being cut loose to make room for JT Riddle (shoulder), who was optioned to New Orleans after being activated from the 10-day disabled list. Giavotella will try to latch on with another organization as infield depth in the high minors.

Giavotella agreed to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with Miami on Friday, Tim Healey of the Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giavotella spent most of this past season with Triple-A Norfolk in the Orioles' system, slashing .306/.368/.441 with five home runs and 45 RBI in 83 games. He did appear in seven contests for Baltimore, but didn't seem to have any consistent role with the club. Moving forward, he will provide infield depth for the Marlins, and will have a shot to make the opening roster out of spring training.

Giavotella cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Giavotella was designated for assignment Tuesday and didn't garner the interest of any other MLB teams and will remain within the Orioles' organization. He'll likely slide into a starting role with Norfolk for the remainder of the season.

Giavotella was designated for assignment Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Orioles will drop Giavotella from the 40-man roster to make room for Tim Beckham, who was acquired from the Rays prior to Monday's deadline. With Beckham and Jonathan Schoop presumably locked in as the Orioles' starting middle infielders for the foreseeable future and Ruben Tejada transitioning to a utility role, Giavotella was rendered redundant in Baltimore. He'll likely be outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk if he clears waivers in the coming days.

Giavotella is starting at second base and hitting eighth Saturday against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Jonathan Schoop will move over to shortstop as manager Buck Showalter continues to experiment with his starting second baseman. Giavotella will be the beneficiary, receiving his first start as an Oriole after logging 228 MLB games with the Angels over the last two seasons.

Giavotella's contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Although it's not saying much, Giavotella has been having an excellent season with the Tides. He's batting .306 while walking nearly as often as he strikes out (34:41 BB:K). He'll forego his Triple-A All Star selection to head to the majors to provide some infield depth off the bench. To make room for him on the active roster, Jayson Aquino was optioned to Triple-A and David Washington was designated for assignment.

Giavotella will begin the season with Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old was in the running for a reserve infield spot with Baltimore, but his .701 OPS ultimately wasn't enough to warrant a spot on the 40-man roster being opened up for him. Giavotella will likely spend a good amount of time in the minors, although his major league experience could help him be one of the first players called up if someone in the major-league infield gets injured or falters significantly.

Giavotella says he's completely fine after taking a line drive off his palm in Friday's Grapefruit League game, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
He stayed in the game after the incident and said it was pretty painful but "nothing I couldn't play through." Expect the veteran infielder to continue getting plenty of at-bats with the absences of Jonathan Schoop and Manny Machado, both of whom are competing in the World Baseball Classic. Giavotella is competing for a reserve infield spot on the Baltimore roster this spring.
