Cueto did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk over six innings in a 4-3 loss against the Rockies. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Cueto had it going early, retiring the first eight batters he faced, five by way of strikeout, as the Marlins took a 1-0 lead. The veteran righty would allow only four baserunners over his six innings of work while recording a season-high eight strikeouts. Cueto had previously recorded just one strikeout through his only two appearances coming into Saturday and is still searching for his first win following the impressive outing.

Cueto is starting Saturday against the Rockies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran most recently pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen July 16 in Baltimore, so he should be stretched out enough to qualify for the win if he pitches well Saturday. However, Cueto has 14 strikeouts in 29 minor-league innings and one strikeout in four innings in the big leagues, so he will be attempting to get by generating weak contact and there is limited fantasy upside due to the lack of strikeouts. Cueto could transition back to a long-relief role when Eury Perez is brought back from Triple-A, perhaps as early as next week.

Cueto (biceps) was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per Craig Mish of the Miami Herald, the Marlins' plan is to use Cueto in relief, at least initially. Given the veteran righty's poor lone start for the Marlins early on this season and his 10.24 ERA in seven rehab outings, it makes sense to deploy Cueto in long relief for now.

Cueto (biceps) will be activated from the 60-day injured list after the All-Star break Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mish notes that Cueto's role is not yet determined, although the Marlins opened up a spot in the rotation when they sent down Eury Perez on Friday. Cueto has missed most of this season with a biceps injury and has not pitched well on his rehab assignment, having allowed 18 runs over 15.1 innings in three starts with Triple-A Jacksonville. He'll make what's expected to be his final rehab start with Jacksonville on Saturday.

Cueto (biceps/ankle) is scheduled to make his next rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Jacksonville, FishOnFirst.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cueto has already made six starts over the course of two separate minor-league rehab assignments and built up to six innings and 94 pitches in his most recent outing Monday, but the Marlins aren't yet eager to open up a spot in the rotation for a pitcher who has compiled a 10.50 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB over 24 frames between Jacksonville and Double-A Pensacola. The 37-year-old may need a strong showing Saturday to make a compelling case for the playoff-contending Marlins to activate him from the 60-day injured list following the All-Star break.

Cueto (biceps/ankle) tossed six innings Monday in his rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville, allowing five earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
After building up to 94 pitches Monday in what was the fifth start of his second rehab assignment of the season, Cueto appears ready to return from the 60-day injured list, at least from a workload standpoint. However, the Marlins may not view him as a better back-end rotation option than Bryan Hoeing, given Cueto's underwhelming numbers during his prolonged rehab assignment. Over four starts with Jacksonville and two with Double-A Pensacola, Cueto has logged a 10.50 ERA and 1.96 WHIP and has struck out just 10 batters over 24 innings.

Cueto (biceps/ankle) is scheduled to make another rehab start Monday with Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cueto seems to be recovered from the biceps injury that sent him to the IL in early April and the ankle sprain he suffered in his early-May rehab debut, but the Marlins want to see better results from him on the farm. The veteran right-hander has been lit up for 17 earned runs in 13 innings across his last three rehab outings.

Cueto (biceps/ankle) is scheduled to make his next rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cueto is targeting around five innings or 75 pitches in the third start of his rehab assignment after he most recently covered 3.2 innings for Double-A Pensacola last Friday while allowing four runs on seven hits and zero walks. Assuming Cueto gets through the upcoming rehab outing unscathed, he could be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list next week to make his Marlins debut. With Edward Cabrera (shoulder) recently joining Trevor Rogers (biceps/shoulder) on the IL, the Marlins should have a spot in the rotation available for Cueto.

Cueto (biceps) allowed four runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings in a rehab start for Double-A Pensacola on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He threw 42-of-62 pitches for strikes, and all four runs came via a first-inning grand slam, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports, and he retired 10-of-13 hitters after the homer. Cueto likely will need at least one more rehab start before he's able to return to the Miami staff, but he could be making starts for the Marlins before the start of July.

Cueto (biceps/ankle) resumed his rehab assignment Sunday with Double-A Pensacola, working 2.2 scoreless innings while allowing four hits and one walk.
EDGE Analysis
Cueto has been cleared for game action once again after he was previously pulled off his initial rehab assignment more than a month ago after suffering a left ankle sprain in his lone outing with Triple-A Jacksonville on May 6. Though he was able to keep Double-A Montgomery off the board Sunday, Cueto was far from dominant, as he failed to strike out a batter and needed 45 pitches to record his eight outs. Cueto will likely get stretched out to around 90 pitches over the course of two or three more rehab starts before the Marlins determine his next step, but the veteran right-hander may not be guaranteed a spot in the rotation once he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list.
