An expected move against the left-hander Jaime Garcia. Mayberry batted .306/.358/.595 with eight homers and a .953 OPS against southpaws during the regular season.

Now batting .276 .338 .528 to go along with 32 extra-base hits and 49 RBI through 250 at-bats, Mayberry should be in the starting lineup when the Phillies face left-handed pitching this postseason.

We would expect both to get a good amount of playing time down the stretch.

The Phillies are taking some flak for demoting Domonic Brown, but Mayberry's .801 OPS has Browns beat by 73 points.

With Shane Victorino out until at least Friday because of a jammed right thumb, Mayberry is getting the promotion to provide depth in the Phillies' outfield. The 27-year-old is batting .231/.316/.365 with three home runs across 104 at-bats this season in the major leagues.
