Mayberry (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh on Tuesday, The Morning Call's Stephen Gross reports. He may not make it back to the Phillies until late-August at the earliest, and considering they basically know what they have in Mayberry, he will likely only see part-time duty, as it's a team in transition and other players need to be evaluated.

Mayberry has been swinging a bat, but is still feeling some pain in his wrist, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Mayberry has been on the disabled list since July 21 with left wrist inflammation. He may not make it back to the Phillies until rosters expand in September.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said he was unsure if Mayberry (wrist) will need to go on a rehab assignment, the Phillies' official site reports. Mayberry will hit in the batting cage this week. If his timing is off, he will likely be sent out for a short rehab assignment before returning to the active roster. He has been on the disabled list since July 22 with left wrist inflammation.

Phillies placed OF John Mayberry Jr. on the 15-day disabled list with left wrist inflammation. Darin Ruf has been called up in a corresponding 25-man roster move. There's no timetable for Mayberry's return, though it doesn't sound like an overly serious injury.

John Mayberry Jr. had a three-run homer and a pair of doubles against the Phillies on Thursday. Mayberry ended up being thrown out at home on each of his first two times on base, the second time because his foot got stuck in the muddy ground in front of the plate. There were no worries about him being thrown out on the homer that put the game away in the seventh. It was his third homer in June and fifth of the year. As well as he's playing of late, perhaps the Phillies will start giving him some of Domonic Brown's at-bats against righties.

John Mayberry smacked a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the Nationals. Mayberry put one into the bullpen over the left field fence in the seventh inning to cut the Nats' lead to 4-2, but the Phillies wouldn't get any closer. The 30-year-old is sporting a .255/.359/.545 batting line with four homers this season. He's been mentioned as a possible trade option for teams in need of some sock off the bench.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox could be interested in John Mayberry. It was reported late in spring training that the Phillies were making Mayberry available, and they're still willing to move him. Cafardo notes that the Phillies have been scouting the Sox during their last three series. Mayberry is hitting .244/.370/.467 with a couple homers this season and boasts a career .533 slugging percentage against lefties.

John Mayberry Jr. went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored as the Phillies beat the Blue Jays 6-3 on Monday. The game was called in the eighth due to rain. Mayberry has hit .293/.356/.512 with two homers in 41 at-bats this spring. The Phillies are very open to trading him, but they do figure to keep him as a reserve if nothing can be worked out.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Phillies have made John Mayberry available via trade. Many thought they would non-tender him over the winter, but they wound up bringing him back for $1.5875 million. Even with Darin Ruf (oblique) likely to begin the season on the disabled list, it appears there might not be room on the Phillies' roster for the out-of-options Mayberry. The 30-year-old has batted .246/.306/.423 with 40 homers over the last three seasons for Philly.

Darin Ruf and John Mayberry Jr. each homered Thursday against the Blue Jays. Mayberry also singled and stole a base. There is room for both Ruf and Mayberry on the Phillies' bench, but ideally, one of the spots would go to a superior defensive outfielder. Ruf makes more sense for the club if the Phillies are willing to sit Ryan Howard against lefties at least semi-frequently. That probably won't be the case in April, though, which may give Mayberry a leg up.
