If the situation arises, Familia will be used as the closer Tuesday night against the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Edwin Diaz will be rested after pitching in three straight games, so the Mets will turn to Familia in a save situation. Skipper Mickey Callaway also noted that Familia could toss multiple innings, if necessary.

Familia gave up a run on two hits and a walk over an inning of relief in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander now carries a rough 5.87 ERA and 1.83 WHIP through 7.2 innings, and he's earned them -- Familia has walked a batter in five straight appearances, and been tagged for runs in three of his last four outings. He does have two wins and two holds, but the Mets need Familia to regain his form and solidify the set-up crew -- the team currently sits 27th in bullpen ERA, even with Edwin Diaz doing his thing in the ninth inning.

Familia (1-0) picked up the win Monday, striking out one in a perfect eighth inning as the Mets downed the Marlins 7-3.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander entered the game with the score knotted at 3-3, but a big top of the ninth -- highlighted by Pete Alonso's first big-league homer -- put Familia in the win column. He's looking good so far as Edwin Diaz's main set-up man, collecting a hold as well in three appearances with a 0.00 ERA and 3:1 K:BB.

Familia tossed a perfect inning of relief while striking out one in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander now boasts an impressive 7:1 K:BB through five spring innings. Familia will open the campaign as the Mets' primary eighth-inning man in front of Edwin Diaz, and he's capable of providing plenty of strikeouts while racking up 20-plus holds in that role while seeing the occasional save chance on days Diaz is unavailable.

Familia agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with the Mets late Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Familia will return to the organization with whom he spent more than a decade before a July trade to Oakland last season. He was closing for the Mets before that trade, but that's pretty much off the table this time around with one of the best relief pitchers in the world in Edwin Diaz now locked into the ninth for New York.

Familia pitched a perfect ninth inning Tuesday in Baltimore, striking out one en route to his first save with the A's.
EDGE Analysis
Blake Treinen pitched in three straight games Friday through Sunday, and received a second night off in a row in this one. Assuming Treinen is not dealing with an unreported injury, this should be seen as a one-off save opportunity for Familia. Not only has Treinen logged nine straight scoreless innings, but he hadn't allowed a hit and had walked just one over that span. Familia now has 18 saves on the season and should be an appealing option on the free agent market this offseason.

Familia (8-5) was hit with the loss Wednesday against the Astros, allowing a walkoff homer after recording just one out.
EDGE Analysis
Familia got Carlos Correa to pop out before Tyler White took him deep to end things. The right-hander had registered six scoreless appearances before Wednesday's loss. He still owns a shiny 2.84 ERA and 24:7 K:BB in 19 innings since joining the A's, though he should remain in a setup role barring an injury to Blake Treinen.

Familia (3-0) got the win Wednesday, working a scoreless inning with two strikeouts and one hit allowed against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Familia was called upon to pitch the top of the eighth in a tie ballgame, and after working around a one-out single and passed ball that moved a runner into scoring position, he was rewarded with the win after Oakland's bats produced a run in the home half of the frame. The 28-year-old is now 3-0 with 12:2 K:BB over 10 scoreless innings since joining the Athletics, though he remains firmly entrenched behind Blake Treinen for the closer role.

Familia (2-0) fired two scoreless frames in an extra-inning win over the Rangers on Tuesday, recording a pair of strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Familia missed seven bats over his 24 pitches, 18 of which he threw for strikes. The veteran reliever has been exceedingly sharp over his first two Oakland appearances, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while ringing up those 12 outs on an efficient 46 pitches. Tuesday's usage was one of manager Bob Melvin's ideal scenarios, as he was able to deploy Familia in a tie game and then utilize Blake Treinen for an inning to slam the door after the Athletics had taken the lead. Melvin is already on record as stating that Familia's primary role will come in the eighth inning on the majority of nights, which could continue affording him occasional opportunities to serve as the pitcher of record.

Familia (1-0) fired two scoreless frames in an extra-inning win over the Giants on Sunday, allowing a hit and recording a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Familia was brought on to preserve a 5-5 tie in the ninth and held down the fort in dominating fashion on 22 pitches through his pair of frames. The right-hander then ended up as the pitcher of record when Matt Chapman delivered a game-winning single in the 10th inning, making his Athletics debut a highly successful one. Blake Treinen remains the team's primary closer, but as he demonstrated Sunday, manager Bob Melvin is willing to trust Familia in high-leverage situations as well.
