Familia has a 2.45 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and 3:2 K:BB through 3.2 innings over five appearances to begin the season, recording one hold.
EDGE Analysis
The WHIP isn't a typo -- Familia has been tagged for six hits in addition to his two walks, but one of the two runs he's given up was unearned, cushioning the blow to his ratios. The right-hander still has an electric fastball, and his 96.9 mph average is the best mark he's recorded since 2015, but his inability to command it keeps him from consistent high-leverage use.

Familia has walked six batters while striking out only two over five Grapefruit League innings so far this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's 1.80 ERA is superficially strong, but Familia has not pitched well in camp. The back of the Mets bullpen remains a jumble after closer Edwin Diaz and new setup man Trevor May, but it's hard to see Familia being entrusted with high-leverage work until he solves his control woes.

Familia (2-0) earned his second win of the season Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless eighth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Familia only threw six of 13 pitches for strikes but got the job done and received the win after Pete Alonso gave the Mets the lead in the bottom half of the eighth with a solo shot to right-center. The 31-year-old has given up only one run in his last seven appearances but his 4:4 K:BB over that span suggests he's still struggling to find the strike zone at times. Familia will remain locked in as the team's setup man unless Edwin Diaz sustains an injury or begins to massively struggle.

Familia (1-0) was credited with the win in Wednesday's victory over the Nationals, allowing one hit and one walk over two innings of relief. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Robert Gsellman got the start but only lasted two innings, and Familia was the most effective reliever to follow him, working the fourth and fifth innings on a night when the Mets offense erupted for 11 runs. Familia has had a couple of rough appearances this season -- he walked three batters and was charged with two runs in only two-thirds of an inning Saturday -- to inflate his 4.32 ERA and 1.68 WHIP, but he now has a win and two holds in eight outings and remains part of the high-leverage crew in manager Luis Rojas' bullpen.

Familia walked one and struck out one in 1.1 scoreless innings of relief during Tuesday's loss to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
After Steven Matz was chased from the game early, the Mets' bullpen combined for five clean frames, with Familia doing his part. The 30-year-old has posted a 3.18 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB through 5.2 innings over six appearances so far, but the heavy workload has resulted in only one hold. Despite his solid results so far, Familia still appears to be behind the likes of Seth Lugo and Dellin Betances for high-leverage opportunities.

Familia has changed the grip on his split-finger fastball to make it function as more of an off-speed pitch, John Harper of SNY reports.
EDGE Analysis
At the urging of new Mets pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, Familia widened his fingers when throwing the pitch to create more separation in velocity between it and his sinker. The right-hander also lost 30 pounds this offseason, resulting in cleaner and easier mechanics on the mound. The improvements resulted in a 1.80 ERA and 5:3 K:BB through five innings this spring before MLB was put on pause, and if Familia is able to return to form he could be a key part of the club's late-inning crew. His actual role once the regular season begins is unclear; however. Edwin Diaz remains the closer, and Seth Lugo, Justin Wilson and even potentially Dellin Betances -- who's still making his way back from a torn Achilles -- could all be ahead of Familia as setup options.

Familia dropped 30 pounds since the end of last season, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Players reporting to camp in better shape is hardly uncommon news for this time of year and is rarely enough reason on its own to adjust a player's projection. For those looking for a reason to buy a bounceback from Familia after his 5.70 ERA last season, however, this is at least something to point to. The good version of Familia, who has saved 124 games in his career and owns a 3.16 ERA over eight seasons in the big leagues, could potentially push for a ninth-inning role if Edwin Diaz falters again, but his weight loss alone isn't enough reason to assume he'll be back to his previous form.

Familia (3-1) picked up the win in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Marlins, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless seventh inning.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was in the right place at the right time, as the Mets erupted for three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 5-4 lead they wouldn't relinquish. Familia has had a rough season but has been pitching a little better since coming off the IL in early July, posting a 4.00 ERA through nine innings -- albeit with a shaky 11:9 K:BB and 2.11 WHIP in nine innings.

Familia (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Familia was sent to the shelf June 18 due to a Bennett lesion in his right shoulder, but he managed to make a rehab appearance Friday without issue and will return to the team in time for Tuesday's series opener. He'll aim to get back on track after posting a 7.81 ERA with a 28:21 K:BB over 27.2 innings so far this season, and he's expected to continue to see action in high-leverage scenarios, per Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports.

Familia (shoulder) made a rehab appearance Friday and felt fine afterward, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Familia was sharp Friday, throwing just 13 pitches over 1.1 clean innings and punching out two batters, so the Mets are deciding if he needs any more time in the minors before coming off the injured list. One way or another, it's looking likely Familia will be back in the Mets' bullpen before the All-Star break.
