Hellickson signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hellickson endured a tough 2017 campaign in which he amassed a 5.43 ERA in 30 starts between the Phillies and Orioles. He'll now head to the Nationals after spending much of the offseason without a team. The 30-year-old poses as an option to act as a back-end starter, but with A.J. Cole and Erick Fedde also vying for the fifth starter role, Hellickson's best bet to make the big-league roster is likely as a long reliever.

Hellickson is dealing with a sore back and may be shut down for the remainder of the season, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The issue isn't expected to be anything overly serious, but it will likely keep Hellickson from making one more start before the end of the regular season. With Dylan Bundy (hamstring) also shut down for the season, it's unclear who will fill in for Hellickson at this point. The veteran right-hander compiled an unsightly 6.97 ERA in 10 starts for the Orioles after being acquired at the end of July via trade.

Hellickson (2-6) allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Saturday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Hellickson's only mistake was giving up a three-run homer to Lucas Duda, but he otherwise held the Rays' bats in check, but since the offense failed to give him much support, he suffered his sixth loss since joining the Orioles. With a 6.97 ERA, he hasn't been a very useful fantasy option. His next start has yet to be determined.

After shuffling the rotation, Hellickson was confirmed by manager Buck Showalter as the starter for Saturday night's game vs. the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
After debuting with the Orioles on Aug. 2 with seven scoreless innings, Hellickson has been terrible. The right-hander is 1-5 with an 8.61 ERA over his last eight starts. His 8.20 ERA in Camden Yards is Hellickson's worst such mark at any venue in which he's made multiple starts this year. At this point, the eighth-year big leaguer is far from matchup proof, and there are much better options for owners across all formats.

Hellickson (2-5) allowed six runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across three innings to take the loss Saturday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Hellickson held the Yankees scoreless for two innings before giving up three runs in each of the next two frames, leading to his fifth loss of the season. This was the fourth time in nine starts since being acquired by the Orioles that he's allowed at least six runs in an outing, and although he's had a number of decent performances as well, his downside makes him a very dangerous player to use in fantasy lineups. He'll make his next start Friday against the Rays.

Hellickson (2-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits -- including two home runs -- over six innings against Cleveland. He struck out one and did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty was decent over the first five frames, but he gave up back-to-back homers to begin the sixth, and the second one proved the difference in the game. Hellickson now has a 6.54 ERA since joining the Orioles and a 5.23 mark overall between Philadelphia and Baltimore this season. He hasn't struck out more than two in any of his last five outings.

Hellickson (8-8) allowed seven runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out just two batters through 4.2 innings during Thursday's loss to Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
While Hellickson has managed to mix in the odd solid outing this season, they've been few and far between, and he's also now allowed six runs or more in three of his past four starts. With a 5.15 ERA and 5.3 K/9 for the campaign, the 30-year-old righty offers next to no fantasy upside, and there aren't many settings where he is worth a roster spot. He projects to make his next start against the Yankees at Camden Yards.

Hellickson (2-2) allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits while striking out two across seven innings to earn the win Friday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Hellickson was staked to a five-run lead in the second inning, and had no trouble as he earned his second victory of the season. After allowing 13 runs over his past two outings, he wasn't likely in many fantasy lineups in this contest, but he's thrown three quality starts in five outings since joining the Orioles. Fantasy owners should consider him a high-risk option with upside. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Hellickson (1-3) allowed seven runs on eight hits while striking out two over 4.2 innings, but received no decision Friday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Hellickson gave up five homers in what appeared to be batting practice for the Angels, but the offense made a huge comeback to take him off the hook for a sure loss. After two solid outings after being acquired by the Orioles, he's given up 13 runs over his last two starts, and his downside can easily ruin a fantasy team's weekly numbers. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Athletics.

Hellickson (7-7) allowed six earned runs on five hits while walking two and striking out four in a 9-3 loss to Oakland on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The majority of the damage came in the third inning, when Matt Chapman took Hellickson deep for a three-run homer. The former Phillie has underwhelmed in his last two starts with his new team after shutting down the Royals over seven innings in his Orioles debut, and will look to get back in the win column after back-to-back losses in his next start Saturday at home against the Angels.
