Jeff Keppinger will test his injured shoulder on Tuesday. The veteran infielder said Sunday, "I just know it hurts really bad" when asked about his availability for Opening Day. As things currently stand, look for Conor Gilaspie to see most of the early work at third base while Marcus Semien is the favorite to fill in for the injured Gordon Beckham at second.

Jeff Keppinger (shoulder) will likely start the season on the disabled list if he doesn't recover quickly. Keppinger had arthroscopic shoulder surgery over the offseason, and he's still working on being able to throw. The 33-year-old has been able to hit, so he's not completely behind his teammates, but the inability to throw hurts his chances of breaking camp with the club, according to White Sox manager Robin Ventura. Even if Keppinger doesn't head north with the team, he'll likely return to the 25-man roster sometime in April.

Jeff Keppinger (shoulder) made his Cactus League debut Tuesday, grounding out as a pinch-hitter. Keppinger still isn't able to throw full-out as he works his way back from arthroscopic shoulder surgery, but White Sox manager Robin Ventura wants to get him some at-bats. "I was trying to get him going, if he's not going to be able to throw right away," Ventura said. "Gotta slowly get him in there and get some at-bats. I know Thursday he's probably scheduled to DH one of those [split-squad] games."

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Saturday that Jeff Keppinger's right shoulder is ''kind of slowly getting better.'' Keppinger underwent arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder in September and is still working to re-gain arm strength. It's not something that should threaten his status for Opening Day. Keppinger will be a utility infielder for the Pale Hose this season.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said that the club will slow Jeff Keppinger's (shoulder) workouts a bit in hopes of rebuilding his arm strength. Keppinger underwent a cleanup surgery on his shoulder in September and has yet to re-gain his arm strength. The club isn't worried at this point but will monitor the infielder's progress. Keppinger is expected to function as a utility infielder this season.

Jeff Keppinger is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery Thursday on his right shoulder. The 33-year-old infielder wound up batting just .253 with a .283 on-base percentage and .317 slugging percentage in 451 plate appearances this season. Keppinger is under contract with the White Sox through 2015. It's not clear whether he'll be ready for the start of 2014.

Jeff Keppinger was scratched from the White Sox' lineup Tuesday due to a stiff lower back. Keppinger dealt with back issues earlier this season, but it doesn't appear to be more than a day-to-day situation. Conor Gillaspie will handle third base in his place.

Jeff Keppinger went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored versus the Tigers on Monday. It was Keppinger's first start in a week, as the White Sox have been going with younger players. Unfortunately, they committed to Keppinger with a three-year, $12 million deal last winter, so he's not going anywhere anytime soon. He does have give hits in his last two starts, so maybe he'll start playing more again. Even so, he's batting just .220 with two extra-base hits and two walks in 59 at-bats since the All-Star break.

After homering in Game 1, Jeff Keppinger went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in the nightcap against the Indians on Friday. Keppinger entered the day with a .507 OPS, but he was the White Sox's cleanup hitter for the second game tonight. The homer and triple increased his number of extra-base hits this season from five to seven.

Jeff Keppinger went 3-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Royals. All three hits were singles. The walk was just his fifth in 227 plate appearances this season. The struggling Keppinger has been pushed into a part-time role since the return of Gordon Beckham, but the .282 career hitter is obviously capable of much better.
