The San Francisco Giants have designated outfielder Jarrod Parker for assignment. The club need to open a spot on their 40-man roster for starting pitcher Derek Holland and Parker was the odd-man out. Parker struggled this spring with a .220 batting average, but should be able to land somewhere as organizational depth. If he goes unclaimed, Parker will start the season in Triple-A for the Giants.
