Jamey Carroll went 0-for-4 and committed his sixth error in the loss to the Rangers on Sunday. The big problem with Carroll's two-year, $6.75 million contract isn't the money; it's that the Twins keep playing him because of it. He's 1-for-22 this month and 2-for-32 since June 27. Tonight's zero put his OPS back under .600 for the season.

Jamey Carroll went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts while batting ninth for the first time this season on Tuesday. Alexi Casilla replaced the slumping Carroll in the second spot in the lineup, though that didn't do much good. Carroll may yet end up with an OBP worthy of a No. 2 hitter, but he's not going to excel in any fantasy category.

Jamey Carroll is 1-for-15 this spring after going hitless Sunday versus the Yankees. The Twins probably won't let spring numbers alter their plan for hitting Carroll second and Alexi Casilla ninth initially. Castilla, though, has been far better so far, having started off 7-for-16.

Jamey Carroll was officially endorsed by Twins manager Ron Gardenhire as his starting shortstop on Friday. No surprise here. Carroll hit .290 with a .368 on-base percentage over the last two seasons with the Dodgers, and is expected to provide short-term stability to an otherwise uncertain middle infield situation.

Twins signed SS Jamey Carroll to a two-year, $6.75 million contract. The signing was made official when he passed a physical Tuesday in Minneapolis. Carroll, who turns 38 in February, is expected to take over as the Twins' starting shortstop next season. He has batted .290 with a .368 on-base percentage over the past two years with Los Angeles and is a solid defender, so the Twins are hoping he'll be able to provide some short-term stability to an uncertain middle infield situation.

According to 1500ESPN.com's Phil Mackey, Jamey Carroll is in Minneapolis on Tuesday to take his physical. The deal, which should be finalized Wednesday, is said to be worth $6.75 million over two years. Seen as a utility player by some, Carroll is set to start at shortstop on Opening Day for the Twins. The veteran batted .290/.359/.347 over 146 games with the Dodgers in 2011, and also compiled nearly 1,100 innings at shortstop over the past two seasons for Los Angeles.

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, the Twins and Jamey Carroll have agreed to a multi-year contract, pending a physical. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com hears that it will be a two-year contract in the range of $7 million. Carroll, who turns 38 in February, is expected to take over as the starting shortstop for the Twins next season. The veteran infielder batted .290/.359/.347 and a .706 OPS over 146 games with the Dodgers in 2011. Hardly a terrible move for the Twins, but that's a lot of money to give to someone who could finally show his age at any moment.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Twins are closing in on a multi-year deal with free agent infielder Jamey Carroll. The specifics of the deal aren't known yet. Carroll is expected to take over the shortstop duties for the Twins. The veteran infielder batted .290 with a .359 on-base percentage in 2011 and will turn 38 in February. He fits the mold for what manager Ron Gardenhire normally looks for in a player.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Twins have had recent discussions with the agent of free agent infielder Jamey Carroll. The rumor mill has been hot Friday with various Carroll rumblings, and multiple sources have reported that he's close to signing with someone on a multi-year deal. Morosi reported earlier Friday that the Blue Jays were also in serious discussions for the veteran. It seems likely that he'll have a new home sometime over the weekend.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Blue Jays are "very close" to a deal with free agent infielder Jamey Carroll. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported earlier Friday that Carroll was close to netting a multi-year deal, and it sounds like the Blue Jays are the team that will give it to him. If Carroll does land in Toronto, he'd likely be in line to start at second base, which would end the chances of Kelly Johnson re-signing. It's possible, though, that Carroll could be used in a utility role.
