Conger is expected to be in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Red Sox as per manager Kevin Cash, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran catcher has not seen the field since having five Indians steal on him last Thursday in a 6-0 loss. Conger has failed to throw out the last 44 would-be base stealers in a streak that dates back to his 2015 campaign in Houston, and is also slashing a .188/.188/.235 line through 16 at-bats in a Rays uniform this season.

Conger has now failed to throw out the last 44 would-be base stealers, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran catcher's defensive woes continued Thursday in the Rays' 6-0 loss to the Indians. Rajai Davis and Jason Kipnis each swiped a pair of bags with Conger behind the plate, while Francisco Lindor added one of his own as well. "They got good jumps," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "But that's something we have to continue to get better at. He's got to get better at making some quality throws, and our pitchers have to continue putting emphasis on holding runners. Conger last recorded a put-out on a stolen base attempt last May 29, when he gunned down the White Sox's J.B. Shuck. He failed to throw out the last 37 would-be basestealers in his 2015 Astros tenure, and is now 0-for-7 in a Tampa uniform this season. The switch-hitting Conger earned playing time in Houston last season against righties due to his .382 w0BA and .260 ISO figures against that handedness of pitching, but has generated respective .233 and .067 numbers in those categories so far in the new season. If he is unable to make up for his defensive shortcomings with offensive contributions, Conger could find himself the recipient of increasingly less playing time as the season unfolds.

Conger is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Indians, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Conger garnered the start Tuesday night, but he'll take a seat after going 0-for-3 in the previous matchup. Curt Casali will play catcher in his stead.

Conger is back in the lineup Tuesday, batting ninth as the Rays' catcher against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
After being replaced behind the dish by Curt Casali on Monday, Conger will be back in the order for Tuesday's matchup against the division rival Blue Jays. Conger will be facing right-hander Aaron Sanchez, and his switch-hitting capability will allow him to hit from the left side of the plate. He is a career .233 hitter from that side of the plate, however, which is likely why he'll be batting at the bottom of the order.

Conger is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
After receiving the start on Opening Day, Conger will take a backseat to Curt Casali on Monday. The 28-year-old slashed .229/.311/.448 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI in 2015 and will likely split starts with Casali over the course of the season.

Conger will start at catcher on Opening Day, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Curt Casali was having a better spring than Conger, but the veteran backstop will still get the starting nod to begin the season. That being said, this is by no means a permanent assignment, so Conger and Casali could see ebbs and flows in their playing time based on who is swinging a hotter bat at the time, so their playing time is worth monitoring throughout the season.

Conger is hitting .154 with one home run and four RBI over 26 at-bats during 2016 spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired in a December trade with the Astros, the veteran catcher has scuffled at the plate so far this spring. He remains tentatively atop the official depth chart, but both Rene Rivera (.321 average) and Curt Casali (.316 average) have enjoyed solid exhibition slates. Although he set a number of career bests at the plate as a backup in Houston last season, the 100-plus point difference in Conger's performance against southpaws as compared to righties (.175 to .279) could very well lead to a platoon scenario at the position in Tampa this season.

Conger was traded to the Rays on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.
EDGE Analysis
Conger appeared in 73 games last season, his lone campaign with the Astros. He does not figure to play every day for the Rays, but if he can come close to the .891 OPS he posted against right-handers last season, he would likely see a healthy number of at-bats.

Conger is out of the lineup for the third straight game Saturday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Jason Castro (quadriceps) returned from the DL earlier this week, relegating Conger to the backup catcher role. Since Castro first hit the DL back on Aug. 29, Conger has slashed .231/.268/.462, which has hardly made a compelling case for him to earn regular at-bats.

Conger went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Conger must have been satisfied to not only take a left-handed pitcher deep -- the Houston backstop was hitting just .152 against lefties entering the game -- but do so against his former team. Acquired from the Angels over the off-season, Conger has enjoyed his best offensive season in part-time action with the Astros. With Jason Castro on the disabled list, Conger remains Houston's primary catcher for the time being.
