According to manager Mike Scioscia, Soto (knee) has experienced stiffness in both legs during is rehab assignment and may not be activated Friday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sidelined since mid-May as he recovers from surgery to repair a torn meniscus, Soto has so far played in three games during the assignment, going just 1-for-11 at the dish. Considering the lack of output and issue with his legs, he seems hard-pressed to return before the All-Star break. At any rate, the Angels will be sure to clarify the catcher's status in due time.

Soto has been diagnosed with a torn right meniscus and he will be placed on the disabled list, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although the move has not been made official yet, Soto's torn meniscus will land him on the disabled list. His injury is a tough blow for an already-beleaguered Angels roster that is running out of healthy bodies. Carlos Perez is the only other catcher on the active roster, and he's hitting just .176 in 74 at-bats. According to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times, Soto will miss 4-to-6 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair his torn meniscus.

Soto is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
After seeing his modest four-game hit streak come to a close Tuesday, Soto will head to the bench for another regular day off. Carlos Perez will slot in behind the dish in his stead.

Soto is not in the lineup to face the Dodgers on Monday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fellow catcher Carlos Perez will take over for Soto so that Soto can be awarded a day of rest. The 33-year-old is batting just .235 against right-handers this season, so his absence is likely for matchup reasons as well.

Soto went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the Angels' win over Milwaukee on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Wednesday's start marked the fourth time in the last six games that Soto has been given the nod behind the plate over Carlos Perez. If that distribution of playing time holds up, Soto may emerge as an option in deeper two-catcher formats thanks to his ability to provide cheap pop from behind the dish.

Soto went 2-for-5 Sunday with a solo shot, his third home run of the season.
EDGE Analysis
He continues to take advantage of his opportunities, homering in consecutive starts and pushing his slash line to .344/.382/.656 in 32 at-bats on the season. With Carlos Perez hitting just .148/.207/.167 in twice the playing time, Soto should begin to see more frequent starts as long as he stays hot at the plate.

Soto went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop has maximized his opportunties to date in 2016, slashing .333/.379/.593 over 27 at-bats. Friday's performance marked the sixth time over the last seven starts that Soto has hit safely, as the intermittent nature of his playing time has seemingly left his performance at the plate unaffected. Prior to Friday, Soto had not seen action in six of the Angels' last seven games.

Soto is out of the lineup Wednesday against the A's, Pedro Moura of the LA Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Soto has been off to a strong start at the plate, but is still getting less playing time than Carlos Perez, who will replace him in the lineup Wednesday. The 33-year-old hasn't played more than 100 games in a season since 2011 and has played just 156 total games in the past three seasons combined. If he can stay healthy, Soto could launch himself into the bigger part of the team's catcher rotation.

Soto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-4 win at Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Soto's two-run shot off closer Sean Doolittle gave the Angels the lead in the ninth, raising his average to an even .300 in the process. He has been on the short end of a timeshare with Carlos Perez behind the plate, but a few more clutch performances like this one could lead to the Angels reconsidering their playing time distribution, especially with Perez struggling at the plate early.

Soto will make his first start of the season Thursday against the Rangers, catching and batting eighth, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Soto acted as the backup catcher to Carlos Perez for the first two games of the season, but Soto will get his chance to start for the first time Thursday. After a tough season last year, expectations shouldn't be too high for the veteran catcher, but he did post a .780 OPS against left-handed pitching last season, which could help him out Thursday night with lefty Derek Holland on the mound for Texas.
