Kratz re-signed with the Yankees on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kratz opted for free agency after declining an outright assignment from the Yankees at the start of November, but will now rejoin the team for the 2018 campaign. He only took part in four games at the big league level this past season with New York, instead spending the majority of the year in Triple-A. The veteran catcher will likely provide depth in the minors once again after re-upping to a new deal, which should restrict his fantasy impact.

Kratz will hit the open market after declining an outright assignment from the Yankees on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Kratz will look to latch on with a club within the next couple months as the offseason starts to unfold. The catcher was traded from Cleveland to New York in late August, and only played in four major-league games with the team, although he did go 2-for-2 with two RBI during those contests.

Kratz's contract was selected from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He will struggle to see much playing time this month, but most teams add a third catcher in September, and Kratz was the Yankees' choice to fill that role. Kratz was only acquired by the Yankees on Thursday, and had a .270/.359/.472 slash line with 13 home runs in 86 games with the Indians' Triple-A affiliate prior to the trade.

Kratz was dealt to the Yankees on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.
EDGE Analysis
Kratz will provide depth at the catching position for the Yankees, especially following the suspensions of Gary Sanchez and Austin Romine, which will eventually need to go into effect. The 37-year-old hasn't played in a major-league game this year, but is hitting .270/.359/.472 with 13 home runs and 37 RBI during 86 games with Triple-A Colombus. The Yankees will need to make a move in order to get Kratz on the 40-man roster, but expect him to be up with the big-league team in the near future.

The Indians informed Kratz on Sunday that he wouldn't make the Opening Day roster.
EDGE Analysis
The Tribe will go with Yan Gomes and Roberto Perez as their two backstops to begin the season, which will likely force Kratz to head to Triple-A Columbus to begin the campaign. The 36-year-old received 87 plate appearances with the Astros and Pirates last season, slashing just .094/.105/.153.

Kratz signed a minor league contract with the Indians on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kratz bounced around the majors and minors last season, spending time with the Astros, Angels, Pirates, and Blue Jays. However, he failed to produce virtually anything at the plate anywhere, as his .094 batting average in the majors and sub-.200 average in the minors prove. Between this lack of productivity and his age (currently 36 years old) will likely keep him in an organizational depth role as the Indians' other catching prospects come through the pipeline.

Kratz signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Thursday, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Katz, who's played for the Astros and Pirates already this season, will head to Triple-A Buffalo. He's struggled mightily at the plate all year, as he's just 8-for-85 (.094) with 32 strikeouts. Kratz was signed to simply add to Toronto's catching depth, so it's unlikely that Kratz will see much, if any, time with the big club this season

Kratz cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis, but he decided to elect for free agency instead, Stephen Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year old catcher struggled with the Pirates in 2016, hitting .107 in 56 at-bats. It may be hard for Kratz fo find a job after four straight below-average offensive seasons, but if he does, expect him to start with that team in Triple-A.

Kratz was designated for assignment Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
With the Pirates in need of 40-man space, Kratz was DFA'd, and he'll now be subject to waivers. If he passes through unclaimed, he'll likely wind up at Triple-A Indianapolis after making 18 appearances for the big league club on the season.

Kratz broke a 3-3 tie Sunday with an infield single against the A's.
EDGE Analysis
He's batting .085 (6-for-71) in 2016, split between Houston and Pittsburgh. Kratz, who started both Saturday and Sunday, could see additional playing time leading up to the All-Star break if Chris Stewart needs more rest or goes on the DL. The Pirates signed catcher Eric Fryer on Sunday to serve on their major league roster.
