Erik Bedard allowed three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Rays. He struck out six, walked two. The two free passes are actually highly encouraging, as Bedard had walked 11 over his last two starts and is eighth in the American League with 46 walks. The loss drops his record to 3-6, and he has a 4.61 ERA and 1.53 WHIP this season.

Erik Bedard allowed four runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings Sunday against the Rangers. Despite pitching into the seventh inning, Bedard struggled with five walks and gave up home runs to Adrian Beltre and A.J. Pierzynski. The loss drops his record to 3-5, and he has a 4.67 ERA and 1.50 WHIP this season. His next start is Sunday against Rays.

Erik Bedard walked six batters and allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday. Bedard entered the game having turned in quality starts in his last three appearances, but on Tuesday he was fortunate to allow only four runs after giving up six hits and six walks. The loss dropped him to 3-4, and he owns a 4.59 ERA and 1.49 WHIP this year. He faces another tough test Sunday when the Astros take on the Rangers in Arlington.

Erik Bedard started weak but finished strong Wednesday, allowing three runs over six innings in a 4-3 win over the Cardinals. Bedard allowed a bunt single and a home run on his first two pitches. He then gave up a solo homer to Allen Craig in the fourth but otherwise pitched well after a slow start. He struck out six and walked just one while allowing seven hits. Bedard takes a 4.44 ERA and 1.44 WHIP into next week's start against the Rays at home.

Erik Bedard allowed just one run over 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday but was forced to take a no-decision as the Astros lost to the Brewers. Bedard was in vintage form, as he allowed only four hits and two walks while striking out eight. Save for one start, the southpaw has actually been very good since early May but has just two wins to show for it. Such is life as a Houston Astros pitcher. He'll take on the Cardinals next on Tuesday.

Erik Bedard allowed an unearned run over six innings Friday in a win over the White Sox. It was his second win of the season, both of them coming in his last three outings. Bedard held the White Sox to just three hits while walking three batters and striking out six. The only run scored on a sacrifice fly by Paul Konerko in the fourth inning. Bedard has gone five innings or more while allowing two earned runs or fewer in six out of his last seven starts, but his days of being relevant in mixed leagues are behind him.

Erik Bedard surrendered six earned runs over 4 2/3 innings Saturday as the Astros fell to the Royals. Bedard coughed up eight hits and three walks, failing to build on his excellent start Monday against the Angels. The veteran lefty is now 1-3 with a 5.34 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 46/27 K/BB ratio in 55 2/3 innings this season. He should obviously be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Erik Bedard put up his best start of the season Monday, spinning seven innings of one-run ball in a 2-1 win over the Angels. Bedard struck out just two, but he permitted only five hits and walked one. It's the first time this season that he went seven innings. After a slow start that resulted in him being booted from the rotation, the southpaw has now posted a 2.79 ERA over his last five starts. He'll try to keep it going this weekend in Kansas City.

Erik Bedard gave up two runs in five innings Friday in a no-decision against the Athletics. Bedard was in line for his first victory of the season, but Jose Veras coughed up the lead in the top of the ninth. The veteran southpaw wasn't all that efficient, as he gave up four hits and walked five while throwing just 54 out of 99 pitches for strikes. Bedard has had better results recently, but there's little reason for optimism in fantasy leagues, especially with a start against the Rockies in Colorado next week.

Erik Bedard allowed two runs in six innings and took a no-decision as the Astros beat the Pirates on Saturday. The start was Bedard's longest outing of the year, and it was the second-straight appearance in which he's allowed just two runs. Still, there's very little to like about Bedard's prospects for the rest of the season. His next start will come Friday against the A's.
