Beltre was reassigned to minor league camp Friday. Beltre entered camp with little-to-no shot of making the big league roster, so it comes as no surprise that he was reassigned to minor league camp. However, a good display in the minors could lead to a recall at some point should a current member of the outfield get injured.

The White Sox invited Beltre to big league camp Tuesday, the Chicago Tribune reports. He will replace Michael Taylor in big league camp after Taylor unexpectedly retired. Beltre does not have a shot at the initial big league roster at this point, but he could be up at some point in 2015 if injury strikes the outfield.

Beltre (leg) signed a minor league contract with the White Sox on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. A fractured right tibia, suffered late in spring training, kept Beltre off the field until late June, and his rehab assignment was then cut short due to an injury to his left leg. Surgery was needed to insert a rod into his left leg, which cut short his season and effectively ended his tenure with the Rangers. His health is a big question mark heading into spring training, but Beltre would be hard pressed to earn a roster spot even if completely healthy. The 25-year-old is a strong defender in center field hasn't hit at any level in the minors.

Beltre (leg) has elected free agency, ESPNDallas.com reports. Rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A, Beltre has decided to test his luck on the open market. Rangers GM Jon Daniels said the team hasn't closed the door on the idea of bringing Beltre back, but also said the team hasn't made him an offer. The 25-year-old Beltre suffered a fractured right tibia late in spring training, necessitating surgery, and he ended up having a rod inserted into his left leg in September.

Beltre will undergo surgery Wednesday to insert a rod in his left leg, Anthony Andro of Fox Sports Southwest reports. Beltre sat out up to this point of the season with a broken bone in his right leg, but he is now dealing with a broken bone in his other leg. He is facing another lengthy recovery process, and it remains to be seen if he will be ready for spring training.

Beltre (leg) will be re-evaluated in the coming days, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Werth Star-Telegram reports. The Rangers were forced to pull Beltre off his rehab assignment last month with the 24-year-old lacking burst on the basepaths, and he left a rehab game Friday with renewed soreness in his leg. The team will get a better idea of where Beltre stands with the evaluation, but it's looking like he may be in danger of missing the rest of the season.

Beltre (leg) left his rehab assignment game Friday with soreness in his ailing leg, Anthony Andro of Fox Sports Southwest reports. Beltre has been on the disabled list since the beginning of the season, but has been on multiple rehab assignments since June. It's unclear if he will play with the major league club this season, but the team likely won't rush him back into action considering they are no longer vying for a playoff spot.
