Lucas has a broken left hand and has been placed on the minor league DL, Fox Sports Southwest's Anthony Andro reports. Lucas might have been an option to replace Adrian Beltre on the big league roster recently but his injury allowed Joey Gallo to bypass him on the organizational depth chart. Consider Lucas out indefinitely.

Lucas was assigned to minor league camp on Wednesday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports. Lucas was brought on as a non-roster invite, but couldn't seem to beat out Adam Rosales or Tommy Field for a reserve infielder job. He hit .273 over 44 spring at-bats, but only one of his hits went for extra bases.

Lucas signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Lucas spent most of the season with the Marlins, .251/.283/.296 with one home run and nine RBI over 179 at-bats. He also spent a little time with the team's Triple-A club in New Orleans, but was claimed off waivers by the Rangers in the offseason. Lucas was later assigned to Triple-A Round Rock, and now will get a chance to show what he's got in spring training.

Lucas has been assigned to Triple-A Round Rock, Rangers vice president John Blake announced. Except for the fact he made the majors at 31 years old, Lucas was unremarkable in his two years with the Marlins and will work in spring training to make the big leagues in 2015.

The Rangers claimed Lucas off waivers from the Marlins on Friday. Lucas, 32, has hit just .255/.302/.323 in 163 career games at the major league level, but he's displayed slightly above average on-base skills at Triple-A (.338 OPS) and can play all around the infield and even the corner outfield spots if needed. While he's no lock to break camp with the big club next spring, Lucas could fill a utility role until Jurickson Profar (shoulder) is healthy.

Lucas went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Phillies. Lucas was needed to make a rare start in outfield with Marcell Ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton out for the season and responded with a two-hit night. The veteran utility man has put up a decent .254/.286/.299 slash line over 177 at-bats for the Marlins this season.

Lucas is in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. With Marcell Ozuna (foot) likely out for the remainder of the season, Lucas could see some extra playing time in the outfield. He'll man right field and bat sixth Tuesday, while Christian Yelich and Enrique Hernandez join him in the starting outfield.

Lucas made the start in right field and went 2-for-3 in Friday's loss to the Phillies Lucas drew a start in the outfield in the first game of the post-Stanton era. He's obviously a significant downgrade from the MVP candidate, but put together a nice night at the plate. Lucas owns a disappointing .247/.282/.289 over 166 at-bats in a utility role this season.
