Ackley hit his first home run Thursday since April 13, giving him four for the year. Ackley, who hit three homers in his first five games, has four extra-base hits (three doubles) in his last 37 games. His time as a Mariner is nearing an end. The Mariners are carrying six relievers, but when an extra arm is necessary, Ackley could be the one to go to make room. He's out of options, so the Mariners would have to pass him through waivers to keep the 2009 second overall draft pick.

Ackley is not in the lineup Monday against the Rays, Shannon Drayer of ESPN reports. Ackley will return to the bench after getting the start Sunday against Toronto and going 1-for-3 at the plate. He'll give way to Justin Ruggiano in center field Monday. Ruggiano will bat sixth against Rays' starter Jake Odorizzi.

Ackley is back in the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports. Ackley will cover center field and bat eighth in the order after spending the first two games of the series on the bench. The outfielder owns a .226 on-base percentage for the season and will only have a tougher time picking up consistent at-bats once Austin Jackson (ankle) returns from the DL.

Ackley is not in the starting lineup Saturday against Toronto left-hander Mark Buehrle, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. The Mariners have not started Ackley against a left-handed starter yet this season, so it's safe to consider this a strict platoon. The Mariners will use Justin Ruggiano in center field Saturday while Rickie Weeks draws into the lineup to play left.

Ackley is out of the lineup Wednesday, the Seattle Times' Ryan Divish reports. He will take a seat with a lefty on the mound for the Orioles, making way for Justin Ruggiano in center field.

Ackley is not in the lineup Friday against the Red Sox. Justin Ruggiano will get a rare start against a right-hander (Clay Buchholz) as Ackley sits following six straight starts. Ackley went 0-for-4 in Thursday's loss to Boston to lower his batting line to .191/.213/.326 through 96 plate appearances.

Ackley singled Friday for just his fourth hit in his last 30 at-bats. Ackley hit three homers and a double in his first five games this year but has just one extra-base hit in 21 games since (a double). In 76 plate appearances, he has three walks. Ackley is out of options, so the Mariners can't send him down. He could get benched, though, if he doesn't start hitting soon.

Ackley has struggled mightily at the plate as he's slashing just .182/.214/.348 and will take a seat for the second time in five games. Willie Bloomquist will get the start in left field in his stead.

Ackley is back in the lineup Sunday against the Astros. Ackley was held out of the lineup Saturday following a 2-for-17 stretch, but the left-hander will return to action Sunday to take on Roberto Hernandez and the Astros.
