At the halfway point of his first season in Toronto, Storen has a 5.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 36 appearances (32 innings).

EDGE Analysis

To say Storen's first half was a disappointment would be an understatement. Having notched nearly 100 saves in six seasons with Washington -- including 43 in 2011 and 29 a year ago -- there were whispers during spring training that Storen could possibly replace Roberto Osuna as the Jays closer by this point in the season. Aside from Osuna converting 90 percent of his chances, Storen has posted some of the worst numbers of his career that include a 4.61 FIP, 1.41 HR/9 and a lackluster 92 mph fastball. At this point, he has little to no chance of being the team's closer during 2016. Toronto's front office confirmed this when they acquire Jason Grilli from the Braves at the end of May. Grilli immediately became what Storen was supposed to be -- the team's reliable setup man, and next-in-line for the closer's role should Osuna falter. Moving forward, Storen's value is limited in most formats.

Storen suffered his first blown save, and third loss, in Monday's game against the Rockies. He managed to record just one out while giving up four runs on two hits.

EDGE Analysis

Storen had been on a nice roll for most of June, but any momentum gained after a slow start to the season came to a halt Monday night. The first-year Blue Jay was called upon to protect a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning. Five batters later, with the lone out coming via a sacrifice bunt, Storen was sent to the showers and Toronto was on its way to a series-opening loss. Storen and right-hander Jesse Chavez combined to allow six runs on five hits, a walk and two hit batters. The six runs were the most Toronto has surrendered in any inning this season, and Blue Jays manager John Gibbons finds himself going back to the drawing board when it comes to late-inning relief.

Storen, who appears to have found his way after a rough start to 2016, has been reinventing himself on the mound this season by increasing the usage of his two-seam fastball, Sportsnet reports.

EDGE Analysis

Instead of relying on the four-seam fastball that he threw 37 percent of the time last season, Storen now leans on a two-seamer as his primary pitch. The pitch has some movement which helps comepensate for a drop (two mph) in his fastball velocity. Using the two-seamer has also helped Storen keep the ball down in the zone. The adjustments have obviously helped as the the 28-year-old has a 3.12 ERA since May 2, after posting a 10.13 ERA in the season's first month.

Storen (1-2) pitched a clean inning in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning victory over the Orioles.

EDGE Analysis

The 28-year-old will take all the uneventful outings he can get, as he's endured his share of troubles to date this season. It was the second straight scoreless effort for the embattled Storen, who lowered his ERA to a still-unsightly 6.33. He may be hitting his stride, as he's now posted scoreless appearances in seven of his last eight trips to the mound.

Storen has shown signs of improving after an awful April that led to him losing his job as the team's eighth-inning set-up man.

EDGE Analysis

After recording a hold in his first five appearances with the Jays, Storen's ERA rose to a hideous 10.13 by the end of the season's first month. Storen, once considered a candidate to steal the closer role in Toronto from Roberto Osuna, has been much better in his last 12 appearances. Over that span, the right-hander has 3.48 ERA while only giving up an earned run in two of those games. It is still fairly early in the season, and Storen shouldn't be written off as invaluable just yet.

Storen recorded the final two outs, including a strikeout, to notch his third save Monday against the Yankees.

EDGE Analysis

There wasn't a save situation in this one until Aaron Loup gave up a two-run home run to Brian McCann, which left Storen to clean up the mess and close the door. He made it interesting -- he immediately gave up a Mark Teixeira double and brought the tying run to the plate -- but he got the next two hitters to close the door, including a strikeout of Chase Headley. Storen still has a brutal 6.75 ERA, but that outing has to help his confidence.

The Blue Jays have let interested teams know that the struggling Storen is available, the Toronto Sun reports.

EDGE Analysis

Scouts from the Braves, Rockies, Royals, Los Dodgers, Marlins, Padres and Giants were present to watch the Jays versus Twins series over the weekend in hopes of grabbing a glimpse of the reliever. Storen had a career-best 43 saves in 2011 and 29 last season with Washington, where he spent his entire career before moving to Toronto in the offseason. This year, he holds an unsightly 7.80 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 15 innings resulting in the loss of his set-up role. A move back to the states may not be a bad thing for the 28-year-old right-hander.

Storen tossed a scoreless inning, allowing two hits and one walk enroute to his second save of the season as Toronto downed the Dodgers 5-2 Friday night.

EDGE Analysis

He certainly made it interesting, albeit not necessarily because of poor pitching. He walked the first hitter he faced on four pitches, but then settled in and closed it out despite a bloop single that fell between four defenders, and a perfectly placed bunt hit that loaded the bases. Of note, regular closer, Roberto Osuna, was not used in the save situation. No reason was given, but he did warm up earlier in the contest, and was suffering from a broken blister recently. Storen has made a mechanical adjustment that he feels will help him overcome a terrible start to the season, Sportsnet reports.

EDGE Analysis

One of the adjustments he's made is to the way he starts his delivery. "I'm actually doing a windup to create some tempo, it kind of helps with flow and that way I'm not trying to get too mechanical, and with a guy on I go to the slide step anyway," Storen explained. "It's something I do in the off-season, and I do that to create a rhythm for my regular windup. So I was like, go back to it, it feels good, the ball comes out well." The added momentum may also help with velocity, which is down so far this season. He froze Prince Fielder with a 94 mph fastball for strike three on Wednesday.

Despite his struggles, Storen will continue to be used in his normal set-up role, the Toronto Sun reports.

EDGE Analysis

While manager John Gibbons is as concerned as anyone, he's determined to let Storen pitch his way out of the funk he's in. "It's tough role, being a bullpen guy year after year," said Gibbons. "It's a tough game and you're not human if it doesn't bother you when things don't go the way you want." Ultimately, this is some good news for fantasy owners who are depending on the right-hander for holds. Storen has been too good in recent years to write-off just yet.
