Smyly allowed three earned runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out six across four innings Thursday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Smyly was gifted a 5-1 lead by the midpoint of the game, though he failed to record an out in the bottom of the fifth inning and failed to qualify for the win. Though he survived without a disastrous final line, Smyly allowed multiple runners to reach base in all but one of the frames he worked. Smyly had worked at least five innings in six consecutive starts spanning from June 13 to July 18, though he has now lasted only four frames in two consecutive starts. With the disappointing outing, Smyly now has a 4.40 ERA with an 83:34 K:BB across 92 innings for the season.

Smyly (knee) is listed in the lineup as Atlanta's starting pitcher for Thursday's series finale against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, Smyly's left knee checked out fine following a bullpen session earlier this week, so he'll be able to stick in the Atlanta rotation after the injury resulted in his early removal from his most recent start Saturday against the Phillies. After a sluggish start to the season, Smyly has re-emerged as a reliable rotation option since the beginning of June. Over his last nine starts spanning 45.2 innings, Smyly has gone 5-0 with a 2.76 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 40:19 K:BB.

Smyly underwent tests Sunday that revealed no structural damage to his left knee, and he's expected to make his next turn through the rotation Thursday against the Mets, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smyly was pulled after four shutout innings in Saturday's win over the Phillies with the left knee injury, but follow-up evaluations don't appear to have revealed anything overly concerning. The southpaw is scheduled to go through a workout Monday, and if all goes well, he should get the green light to take the hill Thursday without any restrictions.

Smyly will have his left knee examined Sunday after exiting Saturday's start after four innings, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the early exit for Smyly, the team doesn't appear overly concerned. Speaking after the game, manager Brian Snitker relayed that Smyly wasn't in pain and that he could make his next start. Even so, he will undergo further evaluation with the team in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Smyly exited Saturday's start against the Phillies with left knee pain, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smyly held the Phillies scoreless through four innings and 72 pitches. He did struggle with control prior to his exit, as he walked three and also allowed three hits. It's unclear how he suffered the injury, or if it will cause him to miss any future starts.

Smyly (7-3) allowed three runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings of work. He struck out four and earned the win in Wednesday's 14-3 victory over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
All three runs came via a first-inning, three-run homer by Jacob Stallings. Though Smyly dealt with plenty of traffic on the bases, he held Pittsburgh scoreless in the next four innings to cap off an 88-pitch outing. The lefty has earned the win in five consecutive starts and has yielded three runs or fewer in seven straight. Considering his inconsistencies through May, Smyly has certainly become a reliable starter for the Braves, and he will make his next start after the All-Star break.

Smyly (6-3) picked up the win Friday, allowing three hits and two walks over 5.2 scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory over the Marlins. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty reeled off his fourth straight win, while the seven whiffs were his highest total since May 20. Smyly has been stingy since the beginning of May, posting a 2.32 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 27:11 K:BB through 31 innings over his last six outings.

Smyly (5-3) picked up the win in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Reds, allowing one run one six hits over six innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty held Cincinnati off the board until the sixth inning, and exited after tossing 84 pitches (54 strikes). It was Smyly's first quality start since May 20 and his fifth of the year, and he'll take a 4.79 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 57:23 K:BB through 67.2 innings into his next outing.

Smyly (4-3) won Game 2 of Sunday's 1-0 doubleheader against St. Louis, going 5.2 innings and allowing no runs on one hit and three walks with five strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Smyly was excellent in this one and submitted his longest start in over a month, blanking a solid Cardinals team in the process. It was only Smyly's third start allowing zero or one run in 12 turns, though he's been decent since May aside from one blow-up outing. His upside is limited by his inability to pitch deep into games, though Smyly remains a decent streaming option.

Smyly won't pitch Saturday against the Cardinals since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Saturday's game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday. Smyly will start Game 2 of the twin bill, while Bryse Wilson will take the mound in the matinee.
