Don Kelly had a tough day at the office in a losing effort against the Twins on Friday, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. The Tigers were unable to generate any type of offense against Kyle Gibson and the Twins bullpen on this particular evening. The super-utility man is now hitting just .244/.322/.295 on the season.

Don Kelly (hamstring) said Tuesday that he's "getting better" and expects to be ready to go for Opening Day. Kelly has been nursing some hamstring soreness in camp. Barring a setback, he'll be fine to serve in a utility role again on Opening Day.

Don Kelly hit a two-run homer to score the Tigers' only runs Tuesday against the Blue Jays. Here's a scary thought: Kelly could be the Tigers' primary left fielder against right-handed pitchers to begin the year. He's batting .421 in 19 at-bats this spring, but, of course, he's a lifetime .229/.290/.344 hitter in 907 major league at-bats.

Tigers and OF Don Kelly avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1 million contract. It's a $100,000 raise for Kelly, who earned a $900,000 salary in 2013 -- his first year of arbitration-eligibility. He's a .229/.290/.344 career hitter in the major leagues, but the Tigers like his defensive versatility and didn't want to lose the 33-year-old to the free agent market. He'll serve as a utilityman for Detroit again in 2014.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said he's "going to sleep on" the possibility of playing Don Kelly in center field Wednesday in Game 4. Austin Jackson is hitting only .091/.143/.121 with 18 strikeouts over 33 at-bats so far this postseason, so Leyland is considering giving him a breather. Of course, Kelly is a career .229/.290/.344 hitter and a downgrade defensively, so he's far from a safe bet to be an improvement.

Don Kelly will start in left field and bat eighth for the Tigers in Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Saturday. Andy Dirks started in left in Game 1 and Jhonny Peralta is still expected to see some time there this postseason, but it's Kelly who gets the call in Game 2. The rest of the lineup is exactly the same as in Game 1, with Austin Jackson, Torii Hunter, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Victor Martinez, Alex Avila, Omar Infante, Kelly and Jose Iglesias squaring off against Athletics starter Sonny Gray.

Don Kelly went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against the Indians on Tuesday. Kelly capped a five-run fifth inning with a three-run home run, his fifth homer of the season. Kelly is a part-time player, having started just once before Tuesday's game since July 28, so he can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes. He's batting .246 on the year.

Don Kelly launched a three-run homer in Sunday's win over the Indians. The blast broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning and proved to be the winning runs. Kelly also drew a couple walks on the day. Despite the nice day, with Austin Jackson due back later this week, Kelly's playing time is about to disappear.

Don Kelly belted a two-run homer on Friday, providing more than enough support for Anibal Sanchez and helping to lead the Tigers to a 6-0 victory over the Twins. The third inning blast off Samuel Deduno was his only hit in four trips to the plate on the night. Through his first 66 at-bats on the season, he's hitting a paltry .197/.274/.348 with a pair of homers and six RBI. He shouldn't be owned anywhere but the very deepest of AL-only leagues.

Don Kelly singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 14th as the Tigers beat the Astros 7-3 on Thursday. Kelly, who had entered the game as a pinch-runner for Victor Martinez, got to hit with the bases loaded in the 14th after both Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder were intentionally walked to get to him. His grounder, which came on Dallas Keuchel's 78th pitch in relief, went through the right side of the infield, giving him his first RBI of the year. Marquis Tuiasosopo followed with a two-run double, and Jhonny Peralta capped the inning with a sac fly.
