Gregorius (hand) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Though X-rays conducted on Gregorius' left hand returned negative after he was struck by a pitch in Tuesday's 6-5 loss, the Phillies won't rush the 32-year-old back into action for the series finale while he tends to some residual bruising and soreness. Johan Camargo will fill in for Gregorius at shortstop and bat eighth. With an off day Thursday, Gregorius could be ready to go when the Phillies open their series with Milwaukee on Friday.

Gregorius underwent X-rays after leaving Tuesday's game against the Rockies and was diagnosed with a left hand contusion, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gregorius remained in to run the bases following the hit by pitch but was replaced by a pinch hitter for his next plate appearance. The 32-year-old appears to have avoided a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day. Johan Camargo replaced him at shortstop for the Phillies.

Manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that Gregorius will compete with Bryson Stott for the starting job at shortstop during spring training, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gregorius struggled last season with a .209/.270/.370 slash line, 13 homers and 54 RB in 103 games, but he remains under contract at $14.5 million for 2022 and is the favorite to start. Stott played 10 games at Triple-A in 2021 but spent most of the year at Double-A Reading, where he had a .849 OPS in 80 contests. However, Stott isn't yet on the 40-man roster, which figures to be a big hurdle for his chances of winning the job. Gregorius posted a .783 OPS over the previous five seasons before his struggles last year, so he'll likely be Philadelphia's Opening Day starter at shortstop with hopes of a rebound campaign.

Gregorius went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 8-6 win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
September hasn't been kind to Gregorius, as this was just his second multi-hit effort of the month. He's homered in back-to-back games, giving him 13 for the year, but the slump has pushed his slash line down to .214/.275/.382 across 382 plate appearances. The shortstop has added 52 RBI, 35 runs scored and three stolen bases this year.

Gregorius went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 12-6 triumph over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Gregorius led off a five-run third inning with a solo shot to right field and later walked in the seventh. The long ball was only his second of September and ended an 0-for-14 stretch as the 31-year-old has slumped through September with a .159 average and just three extra-base hits compared to 11 strike outs.

Gregorius went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 11-2 loss to Colorado.
EDGE Analysis
The shortstop's ninth-inning homer was little more than window dressing to prevent Philadelphia from being shut out Friday. Gregorius hadn't gone yard since Aug. 6, a span of 23 contests without a homer. He's struggled to a meager .220/.278/.388 slash line with 11 long balls, 43 RBI, 31 runs scored and three stolen bases in 337 plate appearances this season.
