Norris has been placed on waivers by Washington, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Norris had been in line to start as Washington's catcher until the team signed Matt Wieters, who is expected to start. With Jose Lobaton and Pedro Severino around, the Nationals didn't feel a need to keep Norris around. If he goes unclaimed, which is likely due to Norris' $4.2 million price tag, we expect the Nationals to release him.

Norris went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, his second of the spring, in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
He's rumored to be back on the trade block after the Nats signed Matt Wieters, and Norris is doing everything he can this spring to increase his trade value, hitting .455 (5-for-11) with a 1.455 OPS through early action. He's coming off the worst season of his career, but the 28-year-old can still supply power at a thin fantasy position if he winds up in the right situation before Opening Day.

Norris might be released soon by the Nationals because it's unlikely another team will take on his $4 million salary in a trade, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Washington signed Matt Wieters recently, and Jose Lobaton looks like the backup. The Nats also have a decent prospect in Pedro Severino and Spencer Kieboom, if he clears waivers after being designated for assignment Thursday. Washington would have to eat around $700,000 if they cut him, but it makes sense to do so after they brought Wieters aboard. Finding a new club, of course, could regenerate some semblance of fantasy value for Norris, who toiled with a .186 batting average last year but has displayed decent pop throughout his five-year career.

Norris went 1-for-2 with a solo home run off Astros closer Ken Giles during Tuesday's Grapefruit League game.
EDGE Analysis
He's essentially auditioning for a role on another team at this point, as the Matt Wieters signing makes him expendable, but at least Norris isn't letting his job security issues affect him at the plate. He'll need more than one early spring homer to shake off the stink of last year's .583 OPS, however.

The Nationals will look to trade Norris in the wake of the Matt Wieters signing, The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
While there was no definitive statement from the front office regarding Norris' future in Washington, manager Dusty Baker's comments following the Wieters acquisition indicated that he was happy for Norris that it happened as early in the spring as it did, because the Nats would now have plenty of time to find another club "that needs a front-line catcher." Until that happens, though, the 28-year-old's fantasy value -- already low coming off a .186/.255/.328 slash line in 2016 -- will remain in limbo.

Norris is now in line to be the Nationals' backup catcher after the team signed Matt Wieters to a two-year deal on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Wieters signing, while an obvious upgrade, really hurts Norris' fantasy value this season, as he no longer profiles as the starter. It's possible that Washington will look to trade Norris, as Jose Lobaton and Pedro Severino would be capable of handling the backup job.

Norris agreed to a one-year, $4.2 million contract with the Nationals on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
He struggled in a major way with San Diego in 2016, batting .186/.255/.328 with a strikeout rate north of 30 percent. That said, Norris, who turns 28 next month, still packs a power punch and he figures to serve as the primary option behind the dish in Washington -- that keeps him plenty relevant in two-catcher leagues.

Norris was traded to the Nationals on Friday in exchange for pitcher Pedro Avila.
EDGE Analysis
Norris was once the catcher of the future for Washington, but now he'll make his return to the nation's capitol presumably to take over as the Nationals' primary catcher. The 27-year-old was once one of the better-hitting catchers in the game, although his batting average sunk below the Mendoza Line and he struck out over 30 percent of the time in 125 games behind the plate for San Diego. He still possesses some pop (14 home runs in 2016) and good patience at the plate, but it'll be tough to get back into the top tier of catchers if he continues to strike out as much as he did last season.

Norris is not in the lineup Thursday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Now that the Pacific Coast League playoffs are done, former catching prospect Austin Hedges has rejoined the major league squad coming off of a breakout season in the minors. With this in mind, Norris will cede Thursday's start to him and very well could sit out of more contests down the stretch as the Padres evaluate if Hedges can hold his own at the plate and be San Diego's catcher of the future.

Norris went 1-for-2 with a solo homer, two walks, a steal and three runs against the Rockies on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
He struck out for his only out, so Norris had himself a classic three-true-outcomes day. The 27-year-old catcher has still been absolutely atrocious this year, though, with a .182 average and no multi-hit games since way, way back on July 7. Considering how many at-bats he's gotten, there have been few hitters more damaging to a rotisserie lineup than Norris this year. But the Padres have nothing else to do but stick with him and hope he can find a way to make more contact next season.
