Norris is not in the lineup Thursday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Norris is batting just .200 on the young season, and after starting the past two games behind the plate, he'll get the night off Thursday. Jesus Sucre will set up behind the dish in his stead.

Norris is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
After he was behind the plate for the first two games of the series, Norris will receive a routine off day as the Rays and Blue Jays wrap things up Sunday afternoon. Jesus Sucre will replace Norris at catcher and bat ninth in the order, serving as the battery mate for right-hander Jake Odorizzi.

Norris is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
After catching three straight games, Norris will give way to Jesus Sucre behind the dish. He'll likely slot back into the lineup for Friday's game.

Norris went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old quietly stole a career-high nine bases last year for the Padres, and if the Rays continue to be frisky on the basepaths -- as a team they were 3-for-4 on steal attempts during their three-game series with the Yankees -- Norris could prove to be a surprising contributor in that category for as long as he holds down the starting catcher job.

Norris notched a single in three at-bats during his Rays debut during Tuesday's Grapefruit League loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop posted an unsightly .186/.255/.328 line last season with the Nationals, with all three figures representing career lows. However, he still had enough pop in his bat to equal his career high with 14 homers, and the Rays are hoping they'll see a nice bump in contact rate and OBP from Norris without any loss of power. After striking out four times in a minor-league game intra-squad game Sunday, it was a positive on an otherwise offensively dismal day to see Norris hit safely in his debut.

Norris will make his first appearance for the Rays in Grapefruit League play Tuesday against the Twins, Steve Carney of 620 WDAE AM reports. He'll catch and bat third in the order.
EDGE Analysis
After he was released by the Nationals shortly after the club signed Matt Wieters, Norris latched on with the Rays and projects to serve as their primary catcher until Wilson Ramos (knee) is cleared to return behind the plate, perhaps at some point in May. The Rays will throw Norris into the fire right away in his team debut, as the backstop will serve as the battery mate for ace Chris Archer, who is making his final start of the spring. Norris offers more offensive upside than the catchers the Rays have relied on in recent years, but his impressive pop comes with the drawback of poor contact rates. He struck out in a career-worst 30.3 percent of his plate appearances last season with the Padres, which contributed heavily in limiting his batting average to an awful .186.

Norris went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in a minor league intra-squad game Sunday, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Just signed on March 25, Norris saw his first game action since back on March 13 while still with the Nationals and obviously had some rust to knock off. The veteran backstop is expected to partake in another minor league game Monday.

Norris officially signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Rays on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
One week after being released by the Nationals, Norris found a landing spot in Tampa Bay. In signing Norris, the Rays have made a notable improvement to their catching depth. According to Topkin, Norris is expected to be the Rays' regular catcher. Norris struggled at the dish last season, slashing .186/.255/.328, but he's just one year removed from a 49 extra-base hit campaign in 2015.

Norris is expected to sign with the Rays, Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The free agent backstop reportedly chose Tampa Bay over four other suitors, with his main reason being playing time. With starting catcher Wilson Ramos out until at least July, Norris will have a clear opportunity to win a spot as the Rays' starting catcher to start the season. He'll compete with Curt Casali, Luke Maile, and non-roster invitee Jesus Sucre to earn the starting spot, though the winner will likely be relegated to backup once Ramos returns. More specifics surrounding the deal should be made available once everything is finalized.

Norris was released by the Nationals on Wednesday, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After signing a one-year contract in November, the 28-year-old leaves Washington without even making it to Opening Day. With Jose Lobaton set to be the backup to Matt Wieters, there simply was no space in the lineup for Norris, who is coming off a miserable 2016 campaign in which he hit .186 over 125 games for the Padres. He'll look to latch on elsewhere before the season begins, but his $3.5 million salary may discourage suitors.
