Barney was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, two RBI, and a home run in a losing effort against Oakland on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Barney has been relatively productive as the primary backup on the Blue Jays' infield, but he doesn't see enough at bats to help a fantasy team. He played second base in this one as Ryan Goins moved over to shortstop so Troy Tulowitzki could have a night off. His versatility is an assest in Toronto, but probably not to a fantasy roster.

Barney beat out Macier Izturis for the backup infielder job, left vacant due to Devon Travis' injury, the Canadian Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barney did not make the team for his offensive prowess -- he's slashed .246/.339/.633 over his six-year career. Lucky for him, the league's best offense was looking for a defensive asset to fill the backup role. The 30-year-old will serve as the team's reserve up the middle and at third. His spot on the 25-man roster will be in question once Devon Travis (shoulder) returns.

Barney agreed to a one-year contract with the Blue Jays on Wednesday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Barney fared well at the plate in a small sample with the Blue Jays after coming over in a post-waiver-deadline deal, it's his glove that's earned him another major league contract. Barney, now 30, is a .246/.294/.339 career hitter at the highest level. Look for him to provide middle-infield depth for Toronto to start the season.

Barney has elected free agency, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
EDGE Analysis
He did make the Dodgers' Opening Day roster, but was optioned down less than two weeks into the season, and was ultimately dealt to Toronto in a post-waiver-deadline deal. Barney, the 2012 NL Gold Glove winner at second base, has posted just a .246/.294/.339 career batting line in parts of six major league seasons.

Barney was designated for assignment Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Blue Jays claiming Pat Venditte off waivers Monday, Barwin will be sent down to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. The club acquired Barney in September, so the 29-year-old was already ineligible to join the team's postseason roster.

Barney has accepted his outright assignment and has reported to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports. No longer part of the 40-man roster, Barney will provide organizational depth up the middle.

Barney was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Friday, Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports. With Ronald Torreyes coming aboard via trade from Toronto, Barney got the bump, which is hardly surprising considering his .214/.273/.259 batting line in 121 plate appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. Barney's glove has carried him throughout his career, but it may not be enough to land him on another club's 40-man roster.

Barney is batting just .217/.273/.272 for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The all-glove, no-bat Barney is in jeopardy of losing his spot on the 40-man roster given his lack of hitting and the abundance of talent the Dodgers have in the infield.

Barney was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. The Dodgers had to clear room on the roster for a fifth starter (David Huff), and Barney was the casualty. Barney won a Gold Glove in 2012 but has hit just .245/.293/.336 in parts of six seasons at the major league level.

Barney was replaced in Sunday's game after going 0-for-3 from the plate. Barney has only had four at-bats so far this season, and Sunday was his first start, but he was pinch-hit for by Justin Turner. He hardly made the Opening Day roster in the first place, so Barney shouldn't be owned in most leagues.
